  • Leg Cramps

The last few nights I've been startled awake in the dead of the night to some very vicious leg cramps - last night I awoke crying because the leg cramps were so intolerable. My legs are still sore just sitting here @ the computer!

I looked up leg cramps in DANDR & it states it can be caused by losing electrolytes to fast due to the diurectic effect. It stated to supplement with potassium, magnesium & calcium in addition to my multivitamin.

I take a good combo of multivitamins - something I've always been very diligent about. I swear I am drinking my water - and then some! I don't have a problem with water to begin with so it's not a big deal for me to consume lots of water.

This happened the last time I did clean Induction too.

Anyone else experience leg cramps - if so - what did you do to combat the leg cramps?

    Hi...

I had some leg cramps at night during induction, but not that bad. I took an extra calcium supplement at night, and they went away. My BF had them also, and he took extra magnesium to help with his because his leg cramps seem to get worse with additional calcium, so I'm not sure what would be the way to combat them. Maybe there are some others here who have some advice?
Sorry I couldn't be more helpful... I hope they go away soon!! :sympathy

I had near-leg-cramp episodes so I got on a potassium/magnesium/calcium supplement and things settled down.
I started taking a better multi-vitamin, and a calcium supplement, so now I just take potassium along with that and no troubles at all.

all the water andthe diuretic effect means you need even more of those electrolytes then before. your doc can tell you how much you need with a standard blood test I needed 3 OTC potassiumpills when I was induction eating but not once I was in OWL
