  • NEW, EXCITED and a little confused!

I started ATKINS yesterday and I feel like I am doing it okay. It hasn't been too hard att all, but I don't know if I am doing it right.

Do I have to eat vegetables? I haven't been, I have been eating foods off the acceptable list but I haven't really been eating vegetables. Is that a requirement?

Have been eating chicken, Turkey Bacon and 3.5 oz. of cheese a day.

    Is this alright?

you can't just eat meat and cheese. I can only image what your body will do if you don't get any fiber!

You really owe it to yourself (your health) and ultimate success to get yourself a copy of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR). Until then, read all the stickies and check out the FAQ forum. Yes, vegetables are very important. You must eat 3 cups per day as described. You must also drink water and exercise! Welcome to the ha

        I know that

I wasn't planning on NEVER eating them, I am just saying that for the first two days I have just kind of gotten by on meat and cheese. Do I need to start over or is it okay?

        I love vegetables!

Don't star tall over, but try to do something like this...this is what I did..

          Breakfast: Eggs, meat & cheese
Lunch: Big ol' chicken caesar salad or soemthing like that (2+ cups of lettuce)
Dinner: Meat & 1 cup of acceptable veggies

Then it doesn't seem like your cramming down the veggies...although I've become quite fond of them and never was...

also make sure your turkey bacon doesn't have any added sugars or nitrates...

SMS, if this is your first foray into the world of Atkins, you are probably tickled pink to be able to munch on bacon, feast on feta and relish olives. You don't start over, as Higgies said. You just add in some celery, lettuce, maybe a cherry tomato or two.

              You're doing swell so far!

I try to make it a point to find one new vegetable when we go shopping each week. If not I try to find a new recipe for a vegetable I thought I did not like.

                  keep it up

And I am hooked on spinach!!
I love spinach too! I love both fresh and frozen. I make a really yummy dish with fried chicken breast strips (unbreaded of course). You add the chicken to a spinach mixture consisting of spinach, butter, a bit of cream and parmesan cheese. Sometimes I add a smidge of monterey jack. So yummy! I believe that is an induction-friendly meal.

I add a slice of tomato and a small stalk of celery to my breakfast. It adds a nice balance for me anyways. Im not a big vegetable person, never have been, but the things i can tolerate seem to taste better on Atkins, imo.
