Hi, I'm male, 24, 6-2, 250 pounds.
I've been training hard in the gym in the last year or two and gained a lot of muscle mass. I've grown from 220 to 250 in about a year. I've been on a high protein, low fat, moderate carb diet. Lately, I've been trying to change my program to do more cardio and less mass gain exercises to lose fat.
That was my main problem, before starting, at about age 19, I was about 190. I should have started to lose the fat before bulking up but I didn't. So when I started to gain muscle mass I lost about 5 pounds before climbing... Now, it seems to me that I eat really well, but I can drop the fat!
This is what I usually consume in a day:
Wake up time 5:30 am
Meal #1 @5:35am: Protein Shake (20g protein, 1 carb, 3 fat)
Meal #2 @6:00am: Can'o'tuna (25g protein, 0 carb, 0 fat) & 2 glasses of skimmed milk
Meal #3 @8:30am: 250ml 1% cottage cheese & 1 boiled egg (20p, 7c, 6f)
WORK OUT ~9:15 to 11:30
(Day 1 Pecs, Day2 arms, day 3 Shoulders, day 4 back, day 5 only cardio)
+ 1h cardio
Meal #4 @11:30am: Protein Shake (30p, 1c, 3f)
Meal #5 @12:30pm: BIG SALAD (green with cucumbers, red & green peppers, tomato) & 1 chicken breast (no dressing, some low fat bbq sauce)
Meal #6 @2:30pm: Meat (steak or pork chops or whatever) fairly low fat & some veggies
Meal #7 @4:00pm: 0.1%fat yogurt & can of tuna (if really hungry)
Meal #8 @5:30pm: Shake (20p) if no tuna in #7
Meal #9 @6:30pm: Meat (same as #6) and veggies or soup
Snacks: Trail mix
Meal #10 @11pm: Soy protein Shake (20p, 0c, 0f) with Milk
---------------
Isn't just like the Atkins diet? So why can't I lose fat? I haven't read the book yet, but from what I understand, this is pretty much it! I might have more like 40 to 50g of carbs a day with lots of protein (175 to 225 usually) and low fat!
Why can't I lose fat? I hear that I wouldn't be able to train with Atkins... Is this true? Cause I don't want to lose muscle mass...
Thanks,
Curious Pumped & a bit fat Guy
