  • Atkins died b/c he did not eat fruits

Its true. They autopsied him and found his arterious were clogged and he had high cholesterol and atherosclerosis. From other people's experience the atkins diet kills people.

From my own experience, I was on the Atkins diet and I loss about 25 pounds and tired and tried to lose more but couldn't. My cholesterol was very high like 240 and I was always constipated. I felt like ****. From my own experience and understanding, I noticed my health was deterioting so I switched to eat fruits and vegatables. Before I went on a fruit and vegtable diet I weighed at 190lbs. Now I weigh 165. In less than less than six months I loss about 40 lbs. It might not seem like a lot but its off for good and will not come back. I only eat fruits and vegtables and my main source of protein is soy, in the form of tofu, tofu burgers, tofu dogs, soy protien drinks. Eating fruits and vegatables instead of a low carb cheese cake IS healthier and the sugars are healthy because they are natural.

Some idiot quack that happens to have an MD because he can sit still and read stuff he will never use tells people that his diet works is garbage. We thought the world was flat but through discovery we found the world is round. Dont go around doing what people have said to do because it SEEMS to work, try it for yourself and your bound to succeed with eating a more healthy diet of fresh fruit, breads and cerels and oats. I am not saying steak is bad, but eating steak only over, over and over again to take in no sugar. Come on people, wake up and dont let these quacks tell you what has been known for thousands and thousands of years. Fruits and veggies for life.

    Thank you

yeah.. he actually slipped on ice and hit his head and died from that. there was no autopsy last i heard.. unless it was done without Mrs. Atkins knowledge or permission

maybe you should read Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution 2002 edition - then you'll know that atkins isnt eating JUST meat eggs and cheese. I personally happen to eat 3-4 cups of veggies PER DAY. Soon I'll be able to add on things like dairy products and fruits.
      F 24 5'10 SW - 217 GW 170 restarted atkins 1/14/08 - This time I'm sticking with it!

      1st pic Pre restarting atkins @ 217 lbs. 2nd pic 20 lbs lighter @ 197 lbs! on 3/1/08
      :oha:

Seems somebody isn't telling the truth about a lot of things.

First Dr Atkins did not have an autopsy so all of that is a lie

The Atkins plan fron the very very beginning included veggies as a part of the eating program and added even more veggies and allowed fruits too so you were not doing Atkins when you claim your health was suferring either

Can you please supply a link to the autopsy report. From what I've read, there was NEVER an autopsy done on Dr. Atkins.

I'm sorry to say this, but if you were NOT eating vegetables or fruits, then you were not doing Atkins properly. During the Induction phase, every is required to eat 3 cups of vegetables, including the so-called "vegetable fruits" like eggplant, olives, squashes, tomatoes, avocadoes, etc.

Again, I think if you did "Atkins" you did your own version of it. I eat vegetables and fruits daily. I rarely eat steak. By the way, I was a low fat vegetarian for a number of years, and I gained weight---so that's definitely NOT a diet I will ever entertain resuming.
          Thank you
Yes, and from the mods at the Atkins Diet Bulletin Board, I would like to thank you too. You are an example of why we, here, insist that people read the book. The general mis-information you have written about the Atkins diet is all too common. And even a cursory glance at the book will disprove at least 99.999999999999999999999999999999% of what you have written. So again, thank you, for providing a good example to our newbies about why reading the book is so very, very vital to doing this diet correctly and safely.

I'm also locking this thread. Again, I think it serves a valuable educational lesson on the reason to read the book.
