  • Water question

I know from the facts about water, a person is supposed to consume 64oz + 8oz for every 25lbs you want to lose., or your body weight divided by 2.
But I went from drinking hardly any water before atkins to now drinking way over 120 oz a day. I have lived a very sedentary life style with no exercise, and now working it slowly into my life. My goal weight is 160 on a 5'7 frame and I am 193 at the current. Should i make myself limit myself on my water intake? I know i have seen several comment on the board that it is bad to drink too much water because it will deplete your body of certain nutrients. I would like to hear some imput on this, so I can put a halt on this if i need to.

    Thanks

Drink the water. The Atkins diet is very diuretic and you will be losing water, so you need to drink it to replenish your body's supply.

As for water intoxication, it does happen---in cases where a person drinks a large amount at one time (like 2 quarts in 5 minutes) or if a person is perspiring vigorously and drinks alot of water---in that case the water dilutes the body's electrolytes and causes big problems.
