  • Do you feel like your stomach has shrunk?

I can't eat all the food I used to in one sitting, I literally get sick! Is it that my stomach has shrunk? Have you experienced this? Or know someone who has?

    I can relate on this!

I used to eat two platefulls of food for dinner, but now I only eat one, and it's very very rare that I eat more than that.

When I found that I was allowed snacks I fell into the habit of having a little nosh here and there during the day(those 'five or six small meals' that the book and everyone talks about). When dinner rolls around I'm not absolutely starving like I used to be when I was only eating breakfast (if I ate breakfast!) and lunch.

I've even left food on my plate!! :yikes

This is a high fat diet, and when you combine proteins with fats, it satisfies you quicker and sustains you longer, so it's no wonder we don't eat as much volume as we did before.

I definately cannot consume as much food as I used to. I always have at least 3 glasses of water with my meals, and that fills up the space of all those unwanted, empty carbs I used to have as part of my meals. I actually stop when I am full, and only fill up my plate once, sometimes even having leftovers. I am now in control of what I eat, and my stomach lets me know quickly! :joy

Me too - When I began I could eat half of a 3-egg/5 oz cream/lots of meat/veggies crustless quiche but nowadays I can't eat more than 1/4 - which leaves snacks for the next day which is great!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

The opposite seems true for me though, at least when eating at eat-all-you-can restaurants. Then again it's possible that I'm actually eating less but I don't feel or notice it.

Before Atkins, when I would pig-out in one of these restaurants, I'd feel really stuffed, bloated, gassy, and my pants feel like they're about to explode.

The last time I pigged-out on Atkins friendly food, I was eating of my relatives plate, kept going for the beef teppanyaki and grilled shrimps. The amazing thing was I didn't feel full or bloated and my stomach didn't even expand. I stopped eating when everyone else did but I was sure I could eat more if I wanted to.

The ironic thing for me is that now that it's easier for me to pig-out on Atkins, there's no point to do so. I eat until I'm satisfied. If I eat more, it's just wasted food since I won't feel any different, though I'm sure there's going to be some impact down the road if I do.

BTW, for any newbies reading this, this is NOT an endorsement for pigging-out. Those eat-all-you-can outings were on special family occasions and not a regular thing.

I definitely agree. I think its all of the water I consume, because I'm thirsty all of the time. I even use a much smaller plate than I used to (a mind game for me). I used to eat until I was literally stuffed. Now I can stop when I'm pleasantly full.

yep, last night for dinner the fam was having taquitos. So I made 2 (boneless) chicken breasts for me instead of one so I wouldn't be tempted if my plate was empty before the taquitos were gone. I only got through 1 breast and a bite of the other....we had a very happy dog after dinner.

413 squats so far this month!

yeah i find that I dont eat as much either - except during breakfast. I usually make a pretty decent sized breakfast - and I think that helps with my not wanting big meals the rest of the day

I find that I have to force myself to eat at times, and that never happened before this WOE. I love to cook, and before starting Atkins, I would eat a couple of plates of food, just because I like my own cooking so much. :yikes

I don't know if it's because my tummy shrunk or what, but I'm glad it happened. :yes
