  • Newbie here----

and I have a question if someone can answer it.

I just got the New Diet Revolution, and starting to make all the plans of starting the induction on the 2nd of June.

Now while this wouldn't be a big deal yet, one question has come to my mind that needs to be answered. Dr. Atkins talks about having nuts in the diet (though so far I havn't read when it should be introduced yet) plus to cut out white flour totally out of the diet. I have a small problem. I have an allergy to nuts, and if I eat anything but white flour, I end up in hives.

Any ideas how I can work around this problem??

Nuts are added back when you move to Ongoing Weight Loss or OWL. There is no requirment to eat nuts so you can just leave them out. As far as flour goes there isn't any allowed to way up on the OWL ladder and again you never have to add it back to your food plan. Check out the induction food list. That is all you get on induction.

Have you had problems using soy flour or flax meal in cooking? If not when you get to the correct rung - nuts/seeds for flax or legumes for soy flour - you may find you can tolerate breads and cakes using them instead of white flour.
In induction you are allowed to use a little flax meal (ground linseeds if in UK) to help ward off constipation or its opposite - start with 1 Tablespoon and add more if needed.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

I'm confused by this. Does that mean you can't either other types of flour, or other types of food. If you followed induction and ate mostly meat & veggies, are you going to break out in hives because you're not eating white flour? If this is the case, I would check it out with your doctor. That shouldn't be right.

Maybe you mean't "anything with white flour" ??

sorry---should have been more clear there---

I ment that if I eat (using breads for example) any whole grain breads, wheat breads, or multi grain breads, I end up with hives. White breads and other products made from white flour are the only things I can eat that won't produce hives.

I will look into the soy flour and see if that is an option.
