  • Anyone not interestd in measuring or weighing like me?

    Hey friends...

Is there anyone else like me that just "does" the Atkins WOE
and is not interested or concerned with weighing or measuring
    themselves...?

I only have 20 pounds to loose and that may be why my
lack of interest--but I figured out if I am going to eat this
way for life I wouldn't get particularly caught up in what
I measure and weigh. I have been doing Atkins for about
5 weeks now and have stepped on the scales once. I
do better if I just go along doing everything right and
not get worried about the outcome. Because with patience
and dilligence...I know I will meet my goal. My pounds haven't
been reduced much yet....but my clothes feel loose and that is
    what counts to me!

Well, now I've seen everything....A person who is NOT addicted to the scales or measuring tape.

    Someone...quick....I think I'm gonna faint.

In all seriousness, I think what counts is that you are getting smaller and can fit into those smaller clothes, not the number of pounds on the scale. Like I said, no one will know how much you weigh unless you walk around with a sign that says "Hi. Today I weigh ____ pounds." But you and they will notice how slimmer you look.

Hey, I say good for you, to not only break the carb addiction, but the scale addiction as well!!

For me, though, the scale is my gauge to keep me on track. Also how my clothes fit and how I feel. And, in all honestly, I've been doing this for going on 4 years, so my feet automatically step on the scale on the way to the shower every morning! Its a ritual!

I would like to not weigh myself every day. I tried going scale-free for about a month in the fall (I wasn't doing Atkins at the time), and I ended up gaining like 8 pounds! So, since then, I'm afraid to go without it. Like Betty, it's a habit for me, and something to mentally keep me on track. I tell myself that "only my Monday weight counts" so I don't obsess about the number itself from day to day.

Good for you, though! It definitely sounds like you have the right attitude about this WOE. It's a shame that some people who are doing everything right and might be losing inches decide to go off this WOE because of the number on the scale. I vow to never be one of those people!

I get on the scales because I READ THE BOOK and the good doc said no to let yourself get 5 above your goal weight.

I have to say that I am afraid if I got off the scales I would start to put back on the pounds. The scale tends to tell me if I overdid it on the salt, if I am doing things right, if I need more water. I may hate the scale but I have to admit that it does help me stay on track. Now I am more than happy to give up the measuring tape for a month or so. I think it would do me good to actually see some serious losses on the tape after a couple of months instead of tiny losses after a week. So here's to staying away from the tape for a while. I will not measure on the tape (unless I hit a weight loss stall, in which case I will need the tape to ensure I am losing inches) until July 23rd! That will be 2 months tape free. I may just need a reminder for the first couple of weeks. I usually measure on Saturdays and I sort of have a weigh in measure in ritual first thing saturday morning.

Well for me I will be starting rehab for three days a week and I have to be weighed every time before I start rehab so don't have much of a choice but then again that don't bother me much anyways.... I just want to feel better and make the pains go away. Johnny
