  • Re: Weigh? No Way! Challenge Support Thread

I made it through! I weighed yesterday morning and I am exactly the same weight -- no loss.

But that is ok! What I learned from this is how much the scale does dictate my mood for the day. I had many "skinny feeling' days -- which put me in a good mood and kept me strong and determined to stick to this WOE.

I did notice that clothes I was not able to fit into in September fit good now. Also my rings are more loose. Sooooo, I think my scale is a liar! lol

                      • Re: Weigh? No Way! Challenge Support Thread

Hi all. I joined the no weigh challenge thinking that I couldn't make it through as I have been such a slave to my scales since starting Atkins but I was determined to do break yet another bad habit.

I was going to put the scales in the closet but thought that it wasn't very helpful as I knew that they would have to come back out again at some point and I would have to face them. I wanted to be able to walk into my bathroom without having to get on them every single time so I left them right in my path.

Well the first couple of days were hard but I made it through and then it got a bit easier. As I got into the middle of the second week I started to have a bit of a panic. I thought what if I hadn't lost any weight or what if I had gained weight. I felt such a compulsion to hop on the scales and validate my worst fears. I was doing what I normally do.....setting myself up for failure, yet again.

Well, I didn't give in. On the morning of the 22nd, I walked into the bathroom and looked at the scales. It was like a western showdown - I just stared at it and it seemed to be staring right back. I walked out of the bathroom. Two hours later I decided it was time to face my worst fears. I got on the scales and was suprised to see that I had lost 6 lbs in two weeks! I was grinning from ear to ear all day.

Last night when I went to bed, I started to think about the feelings that I had when I faced the scale and realized that it was totally nuts. I was allowing the scale to make me feel good or bad. I had given all the power to the scale. Since starting Atkins, I went from allowing my food to make me feel good or bad about myself to allowing my scale to make me feel good or bad about myself. I had overcome my addiction to getting on the scales every ten minutes but I hadn't overcome the power I let them wield over me.

So, if anyone plans on starting another no weigh challenge count me in. I think another two weeks will really help me. Anyone else up to another challenge?
