    I Am Worth It Challenge

    DAY 1, Monday

    1. Post affirmative notes at home, work desk and/or in your car. 10, 20 or however many you need to reaffirm the positive.

I have some from a different book that I'm going to print out and hang up, all concerning how God wants us to LIVE and live well!

    2. Start, revive or continue a personal journal. This can be a handwritten journal or one that you already have (or will start) in the Journal Stats Forum. If you have a journal in Journal Chats, you can use it but you are already aware that other chat happens and your entries may be mixed in with party foods and shopping.

Will make entries in the Stats Journal.

    3. Commit to at least 4 days of exercise during this challenge. Do what you can. If the extent of what you can do is stretching, then stretch. The point is to get moving and be active. If you are involved in an exercise challenge, make sure you are logging your daily exercise and staying committed.

Four workouts: Tricky, what with stubbornly slow recovery from surgeries - but will give it the ol' New York Try.

    4. Print (if possible) and sign the ADBB I BELIEVE IN ME contract.
    I BELIEVE IN ME CONTRACT

ADBB I BELIEVE IN ME contract. Done.

    5. Answer this question: How important to me is losing weight?

How important to me is losing weight?

More important to me than losing weight is regaining my health, strength, and mobility. Losing weight is 1) a tangible way to measure this process, and 2) icing on the cake. Right now the bulk prevents different muscles and tendons from being used or stretched to the lengths they should be. The shortened muscles causes spasms and pain, and that stops this ol' body in its tracks. Exercise kicks in hormones that makes the body healthier; after weeks of doing no exercise, I'm currently the poster child for what the lack of those hormones do to a person as opposed to how I was physically, mentally, and emotionally before the first surgery.

Just saw someone scoot by on a bike. I can't stand this: I'm going to get dressed and attempt a bike ride. Prayers up for my safety and well-being.

Update for Sunday night and Monday: 4 miles on bike Sunday night, 5 miles on bike Monday morning.

        #1. Will do.
#2. I will start a journal as well. Not sure how good it will be though.
#3. Done and done. I've been exercising using the Yourself Fitness game.
#4. I'll print it out when I refill my printer cartridge. I did copy it down though.
#5. It's very important to me. I've got a family history of diabetes and cancer, and since I am very overweight right now, it's literally now or never as far as my health is concerned. There are other reasons as well, and every day it seems like I find a new reason.

          1. Post affirmative notes at home, work desk and/or in your car. 10, 20 or however many you need to reaffirm the positive.

I am going with the saying "I must be a purist." This means, no shredded cheeses, no LC crap like yogurt, no tortillas, no LC chocolate milk. My body deserves only the best!

          2. Start, revive or continue a personal journal. This can be a handwritten journal or one that you already have (or will start) in the Journal Stats Forum. If you have a journal in Journal Chats, you can use it but you are already
aware that other chat happens and your entries may be mixed in with party foods and shopping.

I journal everyday, and I posted yesterday about the things I need to cut out of my diet--things bordering on frankenfoods, things that I just don't need.

          3. Commit to at least 4 days of exercise during this challenge. Do what you can. If the extent of what you can do is stretching, then stretch. The point is to get moving and be active. If you are involved in an exercise challenge, make sure you are logging your daily exercise and staying committed.

I'm in--I will exercise 6 days this week, Sunday being my rest day.

          4. Print (if possible) and sign the ADBB I BELIEVE IN ME contract.
          I BELEIVE IN ME CONTRACT

In the process of doing this now...

          5. Answer this question: How important to me is losing weight?

It is everything. My weight has been holding me back from life. When I was heavier, I wasn't able to walk long distances, I wasn't able to hike without feeling like I was having a heart attack, I wasn't able to run, I wasn't able to eat in public without being self-conscious, I wasn't able to wear the clothes I wanted to wear, and I WAS NOT HEALTHY. Losing this weight brings me closer each day to health, happiness, and the feeling that I can do whatever I want to do. I felt like I was going through the motions. Now, I feel like I wake up everyday with the ability to do what I want.

I AM WORTH IT CHALLENGE ~ Monday Assignment

            1) Affirmations:
~ Great effort springs naturally from great attitude.
~ Nothing external to you has any power over you.
~ Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.

            2) I started my journal stats Sunday for the challenge.

            3) I commit to at least 5 days of exercise during this challenge.

            4) I have printed and signed the ADBB I BELIEVE IN ME contract.

            5) How important to me is losing weight?
Losing weight is important enough to me that I finally have control over my
eating. Sure, I have lost weight in the past, but I sincerely feel different
this time around. It is a great feeling when you honestly are doing the
            best that you can do.

Losing weight is important enough to me that I am doing Atkins by the
book this time. I am staying as involved as time will permit on the
ADBB, because I know that it has been instrumental to my success.

Losing weight is important enough to me that I exercise now even when I
            don't feel like it.

Losing weight is important enough to me that I finally have a passion in my
life. When I "went 10 laps with Jimmie" a couple of months ago, she asked
what our passion is. I was sad to report that I couldn't really come up
with an answer. Since then, my success with Atkins has fueled my
confidence. I do feel a passion about my way of life now. I no longer feel
            lost.

Losing weight to me is important to me because my image is important to me. I know I look better when I weigh less, so that's what I'm going for. I want to be able to do activities that require high exertion levels without being held back by weight, and I want to be able to go to a water park without feeling like I should keep my shirt on.

I posted some stickes on my mirror =) And I couldn't print out the certificate but I wrote everything on it down on a piece of paper.

I have a journal in journal chats, but I guess i'll update on my Journal Stats today =)

Edit: I commit to doing sit ups, and anything that I can sit down in. I got an absess on my foot =(

                  DAY 1, Monday
                  1. Notes posted

                  2. I keep several journals - one at myspace.com, one at xanga.com, and a handwritten journal (I have been keeping a hard journal since I was 16). I now have a journal in the "Journal Chats" area.

                  3. I commit to walking 2 miles at least 5 times this week

                  4. Printed and signed!

                  5. For some reason, the switch has finally been flipped. I have tried losing this weight a million times over the last several years, never being successful for long, and always gaining back more than I lost. I'm ready - I'm ready to stop being in a "weight loss" phase. I'm ready for all the clothing in my closet to fit. Weight loss is very important to me, but what is more important to me is not having any more weight to lose!

Log your answers in this thread and in your journal.

                          5. Answer this question: How important to me is losing weight?
it was hugely important to lose the extra pounds so i could have better health. gasping for air, holding my breath to bend over was literally killing me. there might come a day when i have to take meds for certain things but putting that off till absolutely necessary and maybe never, is my goal.
when i decided to lose the weight, i knew i was in it for the long haul. one reason i chose atkins. i knew this was a plan, a woe, that i could do for me, for the rest of my life. how important was it? my life depended on it. my quality of lliving depended on it. that might sound over the top for some but when your in your early 50's and about to stroke out because your blood pressure is shooting through the roof, then it's true, you life is in jeopardy.

                                1. Post affirmative notes at home, work desk and/or in your car. 10, 20 or however many you need to reaffirm the positive.
Posted at my desk at work. Will put a couple up at home, too.
"I choose to make decisions that yield results. Half-a$$ won't get me where I want to be. "
"I have the discipline, drive, and determination to do this."
                                "199. So close. Get there."
                                "Exercise is NOT negotiable."

                                2. Start, revive or continue a personal journal. This can be a handwritten journal or one that you already have (or will start) in the Journal Stats Forum. If you have a journal in Journal Chats, you can use it but you are already aware that other chat happens and your entries may be mixed in with party foods and shopping.
I will rely on my current chat journal for recording my random thoughts. I'll revive my stats journal to record my food and exercise, as well as any assignments as needed.

                                3. Commit to at least 4 days of exercise during this challenge. Do what you can. If the extent of what you can do is stretching, then stretch. The point is to get moving and be active. If you are involved in an exercise challenge, make sure you are logging your daily exercise and staying committed.
I will commit to 6 days, 3 strength training, 2 running, 1 tennis.

                                4. Print (if possible) and sign the ADBB I BELIEVE IN ME contract.

                                5. Answer this question: How important to me is losing weight?

Second only to my children, losing weight is my highest priority. For so long, I looked in the mirror and didn't recognize the fat person staring back at me. My insides didn't match my outsides -- at least at first they didn't. But the heavier I got, I lost confidence, fun, drive, ethusiasm... I was losing me. I want to set a positive example for my children. I don't want them growing up as the "fat kid." And I don't want to be "the fat mom." I want them to learn early that life doesn't center around food, to save them the years of struggle my husband and I have both had. Last, but not least, I want to continue to look and feel better. I have such a wonderful life in so many ways. It's time to rid myself of this albatross once and for all.
