    I like my hair most of the time.


    2. List the positive effects Atkins WOE has had on you. Post this list here and in your personal journal.
    Doing atkins has given me more energy. Never feel that overly stuffed feeling when I am eating on track. I have less panic attacks when I follow the WOE correctly.

    3. List 3 negative things about you and a course of action you could take to turn those negatives into postitives. Again, this list should be posted here and in your journal.
    I feel I look older than my age.-Cosmetic surgery? I wish.
    I hate that I live with panic disorder and cannot fly, or cruise with my hubby.
    I am a doormat alot of times.

      I LIKE MY TEETH....my hair is probably the cutest that I have had in years...not that it is absolutely wonderful or anything..but hey, it's cute. I HAVE 2 ADORABLE CHILDREN AND A WONDERFUL HUSBAND. I am trustworthy, loyal, loveable (at least my hunny says so )

      hmmm... i am a happier individual is what my husband says...i still 'feel' not so happy but i will say it is getting better. I AM HEALTHIER.

      1. i am a negative person about myself.
      i need to be a happier person overall and my self worth will come with it.

      2. i don't like my belly...at all...i have this c-section roll from my scar...yuck...
      if diet and exercise leave me with a nasty roll there still after doing sit-ups and everything else...TUMMY TUCK.

      3. i hate HATE to do laundry...
      i need to help my husband when he does it...i think he is getting tired of always having to fold the socks will i love to do laundry..NO.. but i could put forth a little more effort...

        Exersize: I commit! Feel so much better today after all the exersize over the last few days.

        How important is losing wt to me: very important! always has been, so thankful for Atkins... see so many positive changes taking place! Feel I'm finally on the right path.

          I am a good mother, wife and friend. I really care about people and try to help others in any way I can. I am honest, friendly and creative. I am true to my word, if I tell someone I will do something...I stop at nothing to make it happen. I am a good motivator and look for positive in all people and situations. I am a problem solver in that I am always looking for solutions to resolve mine and other people's problems.

          2. List the positive effects Atkins WOE has had on you. Post this list here and in your personal journal.

          Atkins has released me from a personal prison. My life was filled with depression and embarrassment from my weight. Atkins has helped me regain self worth, confidence and belief in myself. It has improved all the relationships in my life. I now go places with my husband, kids, grandkids and friends. It has helped me to have enough confidence to take public speaking classes, become President of the Writer’s Group, Organize two Annual Writer’s Conferences including meeting and dining with well-known authors and speakers. Losing the weight helped me get rid of my low self esteem so that I was able to volunteer in my community, which is something I always wanted to do, but was too embarrassed to do.

          Besides the boost in my self-image...I am healthier. I feel better, no more sleep apnea, backaches, heartburn, headaches. I can tie my own shoes, I have more energy, I am not tired and I don't bust out of my clothes!!! lolol

          3. List 3 negative things about you and a course of action you could take to turn those negatives into positives. Again, this list should be posted here and in your journal.
          (1) My biggest ’negative factor’ is that I have a problem with telling others NO. I can’t say how many times I have committed to doing things for people when I am not mentally or physically capable of doing for them. Since I am a person of my word, this causes me great stress.

          The positive change I can make is to put myself first and to be honest when asked to do something that I do not have the time to do or if it is going to interfere in other areas of my life.

          (2) I am an enabler. I allow certain people in my life to ’take advantage of me’ and this causes resentment in my life.

          A positive change that I am working on is to eliminate stress by realizing that I am not a ‘super woman‘. I need to let children/family members I enable to take advantage of me know that I am no longer going to allow this to happen. I need to set out rules and let them know that they will feel better about themselves and grow as a person by solving their own problems.

          (3) I do not spend enough time with my husband. He works a lot, has always been gone and we are getting older and it is important that we spend as much time together as we can and fill that time with laughter and quality. He’s a great guy and I want him to know that I appreciate him.


          4, Done! I’ve printed out 3 of them and placed them in my purse, car and on the wall by my computer.

            Some great replies and thoughts here - very interesting reading.

            1. Make a list of things that you view as positive about yourself.
            Strengths - I like to think that I am friendly, compassionate and non-judgemental. Also if I have a problem I stick at it until something works.
            Features - I like my eyes and lips I have good hip-waist ratio curvyness too

            It has:
            - made me healthier
            - made me less emotional and mood-swingy
            - has given me more control over my life

            3. List 3 negative things about you and a course of action you could take to turn those negatives into postitives. Again, this list should be posted here and in your journal.
            - I am far too critical of my abilities to study and achieve in my phd/job. I need to just keep working and try to suceed rather than wasting time and energy worrying and panicking that I won't suceed.
            - I have little confidence in my physical appearence, in fact I think I felt more positive about myself when I was bigger. I think this has to do with focusing on my body for the past 9 months. I need to try to think what my body can do now that it couldn't before - like run 5k, and that I am slimmer than ever.
            - I am still prone to sadness, anxiety and depression. I need to recognise that I am just not a smiley happy person all the time - I've spent years trying to be and then feeling worse when I feel down. I have ups and downs, that's just me.

              • I'm saved. That brought more hope and freedom, as well as an incredible sense of calm and peace, than anything I've experienced in my whole life.
              • Apparently, I have nice skin. I have fun dealing with nurses during doctor's appointments; they continually stop and mention how I look like I'm in my late thirties, not the 50 years that I am.
              • I enjoy life in a down-to-earth way, with lots of humor. I try to avoid pettiness and "dramas" others seem to relish. I can't stand gossip.
              • I love my family, even during our squabbles, and am loyal to those who have helped me. At the same time, I'm noone's doormat.
              • I'm very aware of social and political issues and can be quite opinionated.
              • When I make a committment, I more likely than not will follow it through.
              • I'll face challenges head on. If life gets in the way, then I prioritize and focus on what I can do at the moment, and trust God for the rest.
              • I love motivating others and being motivated to the point of action right now (such as the exercise challenges here.)
              • I'm quite adaptable to changes and look for positives in negative situations that I may grow from.

              (This isn't including my current situation of recovery...)
              • I'm not continually hungry or craving foods.
              • I'm eating REAL foods that nourishes the body the way it's meant to be.
              • I'm becoming stronger and more clear-headed.
              • I'm developing self-control through my meals and patience as the body heals and changes.

              • When I'm not feeling well, things tend to slip out of control. However, once I'm feeling well again, I find more ways to simplify things so the "next time" may go a little better.
              • I've gotten so weak physically, which is not acceptable. Fortunately, the root cause of it may have been removed so now it's onward to recovery and do all I can to regain my strength.
              • I'm still unemployed. I need a friggin' job! A little more time for recovery and treatments, and then I have to dig in hard to find a solid job.

                1. I am not a patient person. I tend to do everything fast and I get frustrated when others don't follow. I need to take a breath, count to 10 and just let it go

                2. I'm a bit bossy around the house. Again, I need to learn to let things go, I can't control other people.

                3. I'm too eager to please others before myself. DH has always said I need to have the word NO tattooed on my forehead. When people ask something of me that I don't really want to do, I should just lift my bangs off my face and let them read my forehead!

                  • i have a belief in God
                  • i am an organizer
                  • i truely have a genuine care and concern for the members of this board
                  • i am working on some really nice looking arms for a 54 yr. old lady
                  • i view myself as a good, helpful person
                  • i like giving things away that i've made
                  • i get joy at seeing others succeed, this holds especially true for the members of the board as it concerns their losses, their growing self esteem/worth, their success in personal their personal lives. i don't know ya'll from adams house cat but i smile big time when you accomplish things.
                  • i believe this to be a positive.... i am continually thinking, planning, coming up with new ideas on how to get board members motivated, committed and seeing their goals realized. if you don't believe that this consumes me, ask another mod or myjack.

                  my health is better now than it's been in 10 years. the migraines are rare, my knees don't hurt like they use to. my blood pressue is normal. the woe has made me more aware of the importance of supplemenst and exercise. i suspect the effects of menapause has been lessened because of this woe.
                  i've become more confident and comfortable in my skin. i am not ashamed to show my physical self to my husband. i've learned much about being soft on people/hard on ideas since being a part of this board. hostesseing taught me to focus on others and make it all about them, moderating has and is continuing to teach me tolerance in certain areas. that really isn't an eating issue at all but the WOE brought me to this board so it's a related issue for me.

                  • i expect more of people than what i think they are able or willing to give
                  solution: guide when i can, help where i am able and accept the fact that not everyone is committed to the same causes, events or situations that i am. do what i can without overstepping then leave it.
                  • i hate change on many levels. i hated the move up north and was in the worst state of depression.
                  solution: simply put, i must learn to deal with it. easy to say and hard to do. change happens and is inevitable. depend on God more, always, to give me the strength and the insight to be able to accept when change comes.
                  • i don't like not having control. having someone "share the load" makes me uncomfortable.
                  solution: to be honest, i don't know how to deal with this. in so many facets or areas of my life, i see people not doing what i think they should be doing and it gripes me to no end. maybe i need repeat the solution for the first thing. people don't have the same values and working system that i do and what's important to me, often times is not what's important to them.

                    I am friendly, helpful, and considerate to those around me, whether a new acquaintence or a dear, old friend.

                    I'm a jokester, who likes making other people happy and enjoy laughing a lot.

                    I am a hardworker and willing to tackle new challenges.

                    I am a motivator and a good listener. I love cheering people on good things and willing to lend a shoulder to cry upon when things don't go as planned.

                    Has greatly improved my skin and hair.

                    I sometimes allow people to take advantage of my generous nature. This has greatly decreased in the past year b/c of "toughlove." If someone is wanting help but isn't willing to go the correct way of fixing the problem themself or is just wanting someone else to fix the problem for them, I need to cut ties with them until they can resolve their own problems.

                    I tend to please others before I even think about pleasing myself. If I do something nice for myself, I tend to feel guilty about it. I need to realize that I am worth it and that I need to make time for myself.

                    I am not patient with myself even though I am patient with others. Perhaps this goes along with a lower self-esteem that I've been battling since a youngster. I'm just hard on myself and need to really believe that I am worth it.

                            1. Good listener, ambitious, blue,blue eyes. Trustworthy and principled.

                            2. I feel proud of myself, my stomach doesn't ache, I don't feel bloated or hungry. I feel like I'm doing something good for my future. My skin looks better and I am more energetic. I'm not a slave to cravings.

                            3. (1) I don't take care of myself first, I tend to let others dictate the events, food, etc. rather than stand up for what I want. Instead, I should always have a plan for what I can say to others to make clear my own needs.

                            (2) I can be lazy and put off chores that are important to accomplish (like exercise). If I write myself a list first thing in the morning of what I want to accomplish, then I am more likely to get in gear. I can also set my alarm and not stay up so late!

                            (3) I can be over-negative. I need to have more faith in myself, and the Atkins WOE.

                              I Can Not Locate contract either.
                              Journal Done, affermations done.
                              Exercises commitment and journal there of....done.
                              Losing weight is more important to me than neglecting myself into an early grave.
