    good to see ya'll hanging tough! i love you staring down your scale speedy. lol

    pr, we're learning the things need to be done in moderation. ya'll will go back to weighing once a day but hopefully, for those that were weighing 3 or 4 times, this is going to help that behavior.

    scale free for me and qutie frankly i was too out of it this morning to even care about the scale.

      I'm still scale free. (That sounds like I've recovered from a nasty skin condition!).

      Yesterday was a challenge though because I drove down to my office with my little girl & she loves playing on the computer there & writing on the chalkboard, etc. so I was in the same building with that scale for over an hour.

      So I did the smart thing - used my laptop to log on & played my new addiction "Snack Attack". Once again - thank you Jimmie!

      My husband walked by me the other night while I was playing it and said (in all seriousness) "Is that part of your diet plan?" and I said "um... yeah".

        Speedy, that's hilarious that you did a staredown with the scale! LOL Good for you for not stepping on it!

        I've been scale-free so far, and yes, it does sound like a skin condition! LOL

        Hope everyone is doing well in this challenge so far!

              BUT...its a good exercise in self control.

                its not that, i've really lapsed in my diet this weekend, nothing "major" but not how i'd usually be, just because i know i dont hafta look at the scale in the morning... so i figure that this is one challenge that isnt for me!

                  nice to log in and see so many doing so well! nice to see the regular
                  checking-in-ers and very good to see you, giving it another try!

                  we're still scale free too. didn't even think about it today. yesterday i felt good like i had shed a couple pounds, today i feel water logged so i'm good not to be using the scale anyway.

                  NO IT'S NOT THE 12TH YET! 2 more mornings and then y'all can have a family reunion


                  wendy, i loved the story.

                  emma what do you mean you don't like this challenge? you'll like it just fine when you earn your award. no more lapses and perhaps you'll weigh in the same as when you began.

                    For me I feel .... hmm...whats the word .... I guess its more an out of control feeling. I feel I have lost my "indicator"

                    The scale for me is my guide...whether it should be or not. I get on every morning and that is my indicator of whether or not yesterdays consumption of food, water and exercising was acceptable. Do I need to cut back...do more exercise, drink more water.

                    I know the scale is NOT a good indicator lots of the times. So many circumstances can surround a gain or a loss. I know I shouldn't base my success or failure on loss or gain of pounds but it seems to identify most of us. Very rarely on any paperwork you have to fill out do you see "what size do you wear" or "what size is your waist". Its mostly "height"..."weight"...age...etc...

                    I'm trying hard not to define my success by a goal weight or number of pounds, even though I have a ticker that indicates the same. I'm not sure how else to display my goal because its really just a feeling of acceptance. At the point where I accept my body and am happy with it, thats my goal.

                    I will know when I get to the place that I want to be, it will be a feeling and a look and I will try not to base it so much upon a size or a weight.

                    So even though I see lots of ladies on here the same height as me, close to the same age as me with much lower goal weights, I try not to let that influence me. We are all so different its just not realistic to think that a 5'6" woman should weigh between X amount of pounds and X amount of pounds.

                    Who knows, in a week or two or month from now I might be happy with my body and thats where I will declare GOAL. Whats right for me isn't right for anyone else...this is all so individual.

                    Well I kinda went on an on there didn't I. It all just came spillin out...

                      it's okay to spill what you spilled, strudel.

                      i've had some of those same feelings. i see others, close to my age, close to my weight but oh my gosh, they are 5 or 6 inches taller than me. that sort of things plays on my mind every so often and use to be bug me to death.

                      but learning to be understand and listen to my body and getting happy with it is 99% of gaining goal, imho. would i like to hit that magic number of 118? yes. but will i stress over it? i'll try not to. i couldn't maintain that anyway. i know i am healthier now, no matter the weight fluctuations at this point, than i have been in probably 15 years.

                      will i use the scale after this challenge every morning? probably so, for the same reasons you and emma and others have stated. even at goal, it's an indicator to me. sometimes it indicates more than a good day of eating or a bad day of water. being menapausal, it also confirms the daily, weekly and monthly fluctuations that come from hormonal changes. realizing this has made those 2 and 3 pounds gains much easier to take.

                        I'm still scale free and this challenge has taught me what a curious bunny I am!!!

                        I like the scale because it offers me some measure of control. Why should I allow the scale to be in control? It's because when I know the number, I can have some sort of control over my day. I know if I have to take it easy on the carbs because I've had a gain--or if I can grab an extra whatever because I'm having a good day.

                        But it also represents something much more sinister. It's that teeny voice in the back of my mind called doubt. If I start seeing gains no matter what I've done then that voice is allowed to get louder--and louder--and sometimes I give in and say, I'm defeated.

                        This challenge has made me realize one thing, if nothing else. I'm healther and happier no matter what the scale says because I am on this WOE for the rest of my life. It's that dedication that allows me to say that.

                        I'm glad I participated and I hope everyone else who is so nearly there is able to complete their own journey!!

                              I also have not hopped on the scale, but guess who came to visit me : TOM! I feel pretty down - for I will probably not see a good loss, and I don't wanna measure yet - I wanna measure after 4 weeks. SO for the next 2 days I will have to up my water intake and think about my food choices better - I just wanna loose something and then hopefully once TOM has left I will see a nice drop! I did have a couple of cheat moments - I always struggle a few days before TOM starts (this is the only time I really crave chocolates and really sweet stuff) and it is like I cannot control it -ANY HELP / SUGGESTIONS?
