        Elsie - Stay strong! You'll make it through, too.

        Thanks, cleo! I have yet to take my progress photos for this month - I have to get on that soon! I'll be interesting to see what changes there are, if any, since my weight didn't change!

          Re: Mid-Year Resolution Thread for October 9-15th

          I'm back on track. I had a great day yesterday. All it took was a serious committment to stay cheat-free and I did it, easy as pie (crustless cheeseburger pie, that is).

          Today I do have one challenge: I'm meeting my friend for lunch at 3:00. She's 3 months pregnant and admits that she's been eating out of control. I am one of those people that welcomes any excuse to eat out of control, especially when I can justify it as a "bonding" experience with a friend. So, if I can make it through lunch cheat-free, I'll be set.

          My weight is back down to 189.5 (which is really still up about 3-4 pounds), and hopefully will keep going down! I want to record a real, honest-to-God LOSS!

            Effie-- you're doing so marvellously! I'm really proud of you! You'll not only make it through lunch, but you'll be an inspiration for your friend!

              Hello ADBBers!

              How is the go going? (as they say) Today is a pretty good day for me! I have gotten myself down to 135. I was trying hard to get there. I don't know why it was so important for me to weigh 135 but I am there. I still have 20 pounds to go but I'm getting there. 15 pounds lost since September 6th YAY! DH has lost 20 pounds and he has only 10 more to go. Lucky him. I am very proud of him but at the same time envious. I mean he cheats at least a few times a week and I don't and he still loses more. Oh well they say men lose faster than women anyway. Well I hope you're all doing great!!

                    Hey all! Sorry I've been AWOL.. I've just had alot going on. But, I've been staying on plan... I'm down 10 lbs.. so, now I have 45 to lose.

                    I've had a few missteps... but still exercising at least 3 times per week.. which is an accomplishment for my lazy butt.

                    I'll try to check in a little later. Glad you see everyone is doing so well!

                    As Cleo would say.. *hip bumps* to ALL of you!

                        Cleo and rybread....thank you so much for the acknowledgement for my 1 pound down. I know it might be silly but recieving the feedback makes me stronger. I get sad when no one takes notice..I guess that is why I always try to acknowledge everyone else's struggles and victories. You got to give to get...you know?? So I do appreciate that you guys took the time out of your day for me!!!!

                        Cleo...I must say...you love your omelets girl!! Hope there are lots and lots of vegies in there!!

                        Effie...how did you do at lunch with your friend??

                        Suzyhomemaker...you are doing great!! And good attitude with DH...they do lose faster...but they also haven't spent years abusing their bodies with diets and all the other stuff. Better to be losing more than you than not being on it with you and trying to sabatoge your eating!

                        Andrea...You can do it!! Are you making extra meals for the freezer for the lean times??

                        Chixrule...way to go on losing and exercising!! Keep it up!

                          Rybread..I just went to the legumes rung too. What are you adding?? Nothing in there looks tempting to me. Maybe tofu as I have only ever tried that once before but what is the point if I enjoy meat. Also have to find out if soy is okay for those of us with PCOS. For some reason I think I read not...but want to double check as I thought it was good for you.

                            I totally skipped the legumes rung. I've never really eaten anything from there, and I thought it would be more simple to skip it. I also skipped the fruit rung because I was so excited for butternut squash that I went straight to starchy veggies. It's weird, I haven't wanted fruit at all, and if I do, I'll just eat the lower carb berries. I should probably go back and add it in though, just so I know how to handle it if I ever get a craving.

                            Lunch with my friend was a half-victory. I cheated, but not as bad as I could've. We ordered chinese take-out. Now, I know from my past experience that chinese food doesn't cause cravings, or cause me to gain. The sauce is loaded with starch (probably, though I've never been able to get an accurate carb count or ingredient list). So, I got chicken w/broccoli, 2 beef teriyaki sticks, and 3 chicken fingers (yes, battered & dipped in duck sauce). Oh yeah, and one fortune cookie.

                                Re: Mid-Year Resolution Thread for October 9-15th

                                Hey Effie & Elsie, I found this "Mac & Cheese" recipe with tofu for the legume rung that looks interesting:

                                Macafoni and Cheese
                                Ingredients:

                                * 1 lb. tofu, firm - well-drained
                                * 2 cups cheddar cheese
                                * 2 eggs
                                * 1/4 cup heavy cream
                                * salt and pepper - to taste
                                * onion and garlic - to taste
                                * nutmeg - to taste
                                * dry mustard - to taste
                                * cayenne - to taste

                                Use the firmest tofu you can find, preferably "cotton" tofu, as opposed to silken which is usually used for desserts. Drain well and press out extra moisture (usually not necessary with firm tofu). Also, use as sharp a cheese as you can, because tofu is bland, and be generous with the seasonings (use a mix per your taste from those shown above as "to taste".)

                                Combine eggs, cream, and cheese. Dice or push tofu slices through a french fry cutter. Stir into the cheese mixture. Season as desired. Place in greased casserole (or small individual casseroles) or spread on greased pie plate (there's more top that way.) Optional: top with additional cheese.

                                Bake at 375°F for 30-45 minutes until golden brown and slightly crunchy on top. (It holds very well in a warm oven.)

                                Serves 4. After fiber (1.3 gr) there are 2.6 grams net grams of carbohydrate per serving.
