  • Mid-Year Resolution Thread for October 23-29

    Halloween is Almost here!

Will anyone be struggling with candy this week or the parties? If so, speak up!

If not, let's discuss what your confessions and goals will be for this week! I expect accountability to you, but verbal discussion with us, so if you say you are going to drink your water and you don't, you can fib to us, but your body knows!

OK confession-time: I haven't been exercising this week as I should be. I've grown lazy, lazy, lazy. I've been losing weight without it, so something in my beany little head says, "You don't need to exercise, chatra! You're doing just fine!" Uh-huh. oooookay, little voice of enablement in my beany head!

OK Goal-setting: *Biiiiiiig sigh, throwing hand up in the air* *mumbles*

I, cleochatra, will walk 7 days this next week for a period of no less than 30 minutes at a time, knowing that I have to get back into that mode where I'm fearing what I'd do if it were the last 2 weeks of the challenge and worried I won't make my goal for New Year's Eve.

    Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! Who's next!

Ok, I'm going to confess. I've been doing a 2 week experiment. I eased off on the exercise to see if I would lose more weight. The results aren't good.

I'm going back to more intense exercise....weight training twice a week and treadmill work (at least 60 minutes each time) 4 days a week.

Really? You sound like the little voice in my head! Maybe it's been you all along! Or maybe I'm really you. Or you are really me.

You know, you are a great inspiration to me, and I consider you my buddy-in-exercise-crime, so while I'm walking on my treadmill and I'm having a tough time I think about how much better you do and it pushes me to try harder and stop gritching. *l*

I need to clean out the office so I can set up the weight machine again.

My shoulder and arm is finally starting to feel better, and I'm no longer taking any of those horrible painkillers, they just knock me out! I haven't been able to work out at all for the last couple of weeks, and will now start Monday, to ease into my exercise regime, gradually, starting with the treadmill, and recumbent bike. I won't be able to do anything upper body, as Doctor has suggested physio for my shoulder!

I'm happy to say, that I have not brought any Halloween candy into the house as of yet, and will wait until the day of Halloween to buy some, and Tuesday morning they will go to the food bank, for others to enjoy. Maybe I'll smell some wrappers like you Cleo! Hope I don't eat the wrappers!

Cruisergal-- I love reading your plan of attacks against the men from M&M Mars!

I'm so glad you're on the mend, and I am positive that with the exercise you kick in you'll be dropping weight even faster!

I have only drank my water like I should maybe 4 days since I started in August! So, that is what I am going to work on this week. Water in the morning, water in the evening, water at suppertime...

Re: Mid-Year Resolution Thread for October 23-29

                  Well...

I lost it this weekend. Started with a planned cheat for my sil to be's night out on the town, and escalated through today. I feel like crud. BLAH.

Last week, I neither drank my water nor exercised like I should have. I felt drained, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. I am terrified of going back to Arizona, and of what happens once we get there.

My goals, thanks to the Dr. Phil challenge, are as follows...

                  1. I will lose 100 lbs by my birthday next year, for an average of two pounds a week, necessitating the readustment of my new years eve goal to 230.

                  2. I will do this by eating according to plan, in control of food instead of food being in control of me... by exercising aerobically three times a week, and with weight training 4 times a week. The aerobic need only be 20 min in length, to as long as I can go, but must be accomplished. The anaerobic will be split into chest/quads, back/hams-buns, shoulders/abs, arms/calves.

                  3. I dont remember the other things.. I will update when I find my notebook.

                  Thats were I am!

Re: Mid-Year Resolution Thread for October 23-29

I will not struggle with candy. I am not a sweets kinda girl, never have been. I hate chocolate. I know everyone thinks that's so weird. They always say well what about when you get your cycle? Well fortunately I don't get a cycle anymore but when I did I never had chocolate My mom used to get these hollow chocolate bunnies for Easter and force us to eat them as kids. (Don't waste it) So that might be why I hate chocolate. I dunno but I don't consider it a bad thing at any rate.

                      Confession time

I had not been exercising at all! I know that's bad but I just had a phobia of putting on muscle weight and gaining. I realize that is just a myth. I figured when I got closer to goal I would start working out and I am closer not as close as I would've liked to be to have to start but I am so laaaazy. The scale stopped budging so I figured it was time to do something.

                      Goal Setting

I WILL workout at least 3 days a week. I'm hoping for 4 but I refuse to workout in front of anyone so weekends are hard. I worked out on Thursday and today so hopefully this will kick my butt into fat burning gear!

Ok all that said, I have lost another 2 pounds. I am down to 133 now but most importantly I have lost 12 inches off my waist! I still have some belly fat to go but having had abdominal surgery I think that'll be the hardest part to get rid of. I'll have to go update my stats

*Whew* That was fun! DH and I spent all morning going through our closets in preparation for putting away the summer clothes and pulling out all the winter clothes. Before we could do any of this though, I had to really go through my stuff and finally get rid of all my fat clothes.

Here's the end result - all the clothes that are now too big that I'm giving away:

                        And here's what's left:

And for fun, here's a picture of me in what were my 'fat' jeans, aka. the only jeans I could wear when I was at my highest weight. Heheh!

                        Goal setting time:

I've reached that point where calories count - the days of eating 1900 calories and losing weight have passed, it seems. So the goal for this week is to eat within 1400 and 1700 calories per day.
                        Current: 194.5 / 179.5 / 145
Current Start Date: September 24, 2009

                        Previous: 185 / 136 / 130

Andrea, I think your upping your water intake sounds like a great idea! Make sure you check in when you can to keep yourself accountable to that task!

lots-- so this week, your goal will be 1) No SF candies (I'm the same way, they make me crazy with cravings), 2) Drink 64 ounces of water each day, and 3) Only 2 tbsp cream everyday.

And, if you have the opportunity, I'd like to see you do 5 minutes of exercise each day.

No pressure! *lol* You know you can do it! Don't give yourself reasons to give up. You're *this* close!

Woman_Praised... isn't confession a good thing? You feel all clean and shiny when you're done!

What awaits in Arizona that's giving you stress?

Planned cheats are the worst because what follows isn't always planned... like the cravings, etc. Hang in there! I know you'll do it! You're my borg-sister!

                            Just an aside:

Whatever habits you want to make, start them now! It's not too late.

If you wait until any closer to the New Year, you might as well just wait for New Year's and we all know the NYE Resolutions are all regrets and not promises to ourselves we intend to keep!

My goal is for every one of us to have positive goals made FOR New Year's Eve, and that those can be carried into the New Year because we're already changing our lives habitually!

Hi Suzy! Good morning! I'm not a real sweets eater either, and so why I crave it during PMS is so weird! Luckily, I know they're just due to PMS, so I take a Pamprin and I'm ok.

                            WOO SUZY!!! 2 pounds down!

                            You go, honey!

I know what you mean about exercise, but I think of it this way: get the muscle weight on, get fit and get it over with. Soon enough you're going to lose even more because your resting metabolism is going to be so much higher than it is now and you'll burn calories just sleeping!

Rybread! You've made me laugh this morning and I'm snoopy. I want some of those clothes. You have cute taste! I love seeing your pictures! OMG, look at how much you've shrunk!!! I applaud you for getting the big clothes OUT. And you look GREAT! Time to go shopping for a new wardrobe!

                              Good Morning Miss Cleochatra!

Yes I know I should've already been on the exercise bandwagon. Who knows how much more I could've lost. Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda! It's amazing all the stuff I do around here as a SAHM. Going up & down steps a zillion times a day, running after 4 kids all day (well 3 one's in school), along with cooking, cleaning, laundry, dishes you name it and I was still FAT! Now 150 might seem like a dream to some of you but on my 5'1" body I was very unhappy, insecure, and virtually no self esteem. So I resolved TO DO THIS and not for anyone but myself. DH was happy with me at any weight. I originally considered the 3 hour diet by Jorge Cruise but that is low fat and DH said let's just try Atkins....give it 2 weeks and see what happens. So I reluctantly said okay. All the while swearing there is no way I can do this "diet" but we kept at it and I SO wanted to quit more times than I can count. DH however never waivered he didn't wanna be a quitter like so many others in his family, who would lose a ton of weight and quit before they really got started. So here we still are going strong and this site has kept me in check. Thank you all for that!

Oh btw Cleo you look awesome! What a total inspiration you are to us all!!
