  • Re: ~~~Winter Onederland Challenge~~~

Up @ 4am and unable to go back to sleep. Made myself an omelette, and checked out new posts. After spending about an hour online yesterday morning reading through all of the messages in Onederland... I was motivated to go to the gym.

I've upped my workout this week, 2 miles on the elliptical trainer (25-35min depending on speed) plus my strength training. I break the cardio into two 8-15 minute sessions - one before strength training, and one after. The personal trainer guy said that would get my heart rate up while I lift weights, and optimize the fatburning afterwards. I am getting way stronger in my chest & arms I noticed I had to up the lbs on a couple of machines yesterday - yeehaw!

See, though I didn't start the diet till Nov.3, I started going to the gym a month ago thinking I could just excercise and the weight would magically fall off. At the end of October, with my high-carb diet, I had gained 3lbs. No trick or treaters, so I spent the next two days killing a bag of Kit Kats + Reese's p'nut butter cups. The next day I looked up "Atkins" on google and found this site. Bought the book that afternoon, and started the next morning.

I didn't exactly know what "Onederland" meant, but now I am guessing it means getting below 200?? I never thought of it that way, but 200 has always been this evil/magic # for me. I'll never forget mom putting me on the scale in 7th grade and seeing 218 and just losing her mind.....

        Mush,

Yep, onderland means 199 and below. I won't make it this challenge (until Thanksgiving) but Rikki plans to keep this going until Winter is over. I think I will be in onderland by March 20 (first day of Spring). Maybe you should make that your goal too?

          Mush,

Your strength comes from within...and you have it. It is in there, but might be hidden, but I promise you it it there. You can do it!

March sounds like a realistic Onederland for me, I think. I'm reevaluating my size 18 by Thanksgiving. That's only 2 weeks away. My 20's are a bit loose already, though, so who knows? I put my scale in the closet until the 18th. Wow! today is one week, no bread, no sugar, no pasta, no nuts, no rice, nobody could have told me I'd make it this far...and actually not feel tired anymore.

Mush; sounds like you are doing a fantastic job, keep it up!! I started out the same way - I got more physically active about a month before I started Atkins. It was really about changing my life style and I knew trying to become a more active person was a good first step to take. It got me feeling good, so when I started Atkins, I knew it would be for keeps!

Rikki; Thanks for the compliment It is funny how we seem to be right on track with one another!!

I was down to 203.7 today.. better but still not in uncharted territory!! Hopefully by this weekend I will have lost the weight I gained last week and be losing new weight!! I think I've been focusing on onederland so much that it's frustrating me, I am going to go back to "one pound at a time!" for a while.. So my next goal is 203.. then 202.. and so on!!

I need to go do a little exercising.. hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Oh I forgot to mention.. Have you seen the thread in the Women's Forum regarding size vs. weight/height? It's very interesting!! There's even a formula to help figure out what size you might be at at certain weights!!

Well I just got back from Curves... so that's 20 minutes on treadmill.. one dog walk for 20 minutes and 45 minutes at curves.. so that's about an hour and a halfish of exercise.. not bad.. Hopefully the scale will move down some more tomorrow. I really really really want it to!!
