  • Mid-Year Resolution, November 27-Dec 3

Maybe it was the turkey, but I really want you all to know that there is more stress coming down the road, as we near the end of the year. You know what each of your stressors are, but I want you to know what works for me when I'm mad, tired, angry, or in some way unable to handle what is happening around me.

I need you to udnerstand that eating when we are upset is an emotional response that you've programmed yourselves to do. We all have.

Reprogramming is very difficult, but I am going to lay out for you what works for me.

The stressors will be there, but you will be ready for them, because you will analyze them. The first time sit might seem unnatural and difficult. It becomes easier each and everytime, until new solutions come as naturally to you as eating once did.

YOU CAN DO THIS! I know you can!

Follow these steps the next time you feel like you're ready to crumble.

    1. Write down what you are feeling. "I feel helpless" "I'm mad"

    2. Analyze your emotions. Are you angry? Tired? Overwhelmed? Depressed?

    3. Let's talk action. Will eating REALLY make things better if you're tired or will sleeping? Maybe you ought to not worry about sending out a bazillion cards this year instead of doing it and coping with food. Look for solutions. Take a walk. Take a nap. Watch a movie. Call a friend. Email cleochatra.

    4. Take action. Discuss what you did instead. "I napped because I was tired"

    5. Analyze outcome. "As a result of sleeping I woke up refreshed and able to handle situations around me."

Now, everytiime you feel tempted to wat I want you to run throwugh these 5 survival steps. I want you to keep a sheet on each experience filked away for another time when you need ideas, recollection of rational thoughts and encouragement. If you find the nap didn't work, focus on the next emotion or experience which is holding you down.

    Trust me.

    It works!

I care so much about you guys! Even when you're thin there will be stress! Learning to cope with those emotions and situations now make all the difference between negative cyclical habitual behavior and the real new you.

May I recommend that if you do cheat that you journal what, why and how you felt during and after so you can go back and read it the next time you feel that you want to cheat. Because I think that almost all the time the cheat was better in our heads than it actually was and the feeling afterwards did not make it worth having the cheat in the first place. JMO

                        Hello everybody!

I hope I'm not too late to join this thread.

I spent last year crying because I felt like I was such a failure. On new year's eve, the person cared about left me, and i gained 10 lbs from binge eating. I don't want to spend this year crying on what's supposed to be a momentous night. If I don't do this for myself, I'll have yet another reason to cry on Dec 31st. I'm also close to being booted out of my dance team for putting on 20 lbs in two months.

I signed up for boot camp, but I'm not sure if I'll be accepted.

Do I post my weight as of today and then my goal for new years?
                        Here it is:
                        128/115
                        Height: 5"2
Age: 19 (but turning 20 on December 4th...so boot camp would be like my birthday present!)

Still on plan. Trying to recover from the past couple of weeks worth of bad behaviour. My plan of action for the week is to weigh in the morning and then begin the induction phase once again. I have applied to the bootcamp thread but figured "Why wait?!" and thought I might as well get a jumpstart just in case I'm not accepted.

This weeks goals for myself are as follows:
                          • Eat clean!! 20 grams or less!!
                          • Drink at least 100 oz. of water per day
                          • Workout at Curves at least 3 times
                          • Walk at least 30 minutes on my treadmill each day
                          • Start a paper journal to chart my progress and write in it every day no matter how lazy I feel!
                          • Post my progress on my website each day

Thanks again for my Ribbon, Tonibaby! Love it. I added it to my sig line but it looks like it is not coming through. Is that the right code? It has been so long since I have done HTML that I can't remember how.

Cleo...you exercising fiend! You are so great with that treadmill. Wish I had your dedication!

Kinkay..what stage of the plan are you on?? How long have you been doing Atkins? My brother's birthday is Dec 4, too! Hope you get into Bootcamp! I hear it is really good...lots of thinking involved!

Tonibaby...Good for you for starting anyway and not waiting for Bootcamp! Either way you are ahead of the game....hope you get in!!

I am doing okay. Dipping into the peanut butter probably more than I should. Have no idea what to have with it so usually just grab a small spoonful and slowly lick it off...LOL! Got the Christmas tree up. The new kitten (Coal) likes to climb it. Had DH take a picture of me with my first ever shiners...both eyes. I ran into a piece of board and my glasses broke open the skin on my nose and I am now developing two black eyes. Anyone have any idea how long black eyes last?? Kind of embarrassing going out in public...LOL!
