Stress Doesn't Go Away When you are thin

What really puts it all into perspective for me is this:

Even when you're so thin you have to run around the shower to get wet you are still going to have stress. Learning to deal with it NOW is what is going to determine your long-term health and well-being for the rest of your life.

People tend to think, "ooh! When I'm thin my boss will like me, there will be no death or illness and my money problems will no longer exist." That's not planning for long-term success. That's setting us up for disappointment. Weight loss isn't meant to solve the world's problems.

I mean, even when you have a butt so tight you could bring three foreign nations together in peace and awe, there will still be 3400 other warring nations ready for bear and ready to cause you more frowny lines.

The plan is to start making life-long changes now, acknowledge there will always be stress and prepare for those times as best you can, knowing you can handle them.

    Re: Mid-Year Resolution, December 11-17

So I ended this week with a 2pound weightloss, which I'm very happy about.so that means that during reinduction I have lost a total of 10pounds, 211/201/196.Pretty darn good I must say.Now on to extended induction for me until the end of December, and then I will consider whether I wanna move to OWL or not.It scares the crap outa me you know.

    What I learned during induction
1)stop eating too much of the legal foods
2)STEP AWAY FROM THE EVIL EVIL SCALE!!!!!!
3)Keep hot wings to a minimum. They stall me
4)Drink lots and lots of water
    5)stay motivated at all times

Good job, Lots2Lose! Thanks for the tips!

I hate to admit it, but being skinny doesn't mean the end to my problems. I used to think my depression would be cured if I could only lose weight. I put so much pressure on myself that I ended up binge eating and gaining. I'm slowly learning to deal with my stress, though. I've been listening to jazz music and playing piano more often.

ALRIGHT how's our challengers doing?!?!?!? Beautiful Sunday morning we have here in Vancouver! The bookstores didn't call me back for the applications. But that's alright, because I wrote a letter to my old job begging for my position back. I can't keep avoiding places that tempt me, right? I must learn to resist the smell of those damned pastries!

I am doing just awful and I can't bear to weigh myself. The last time I did, it was BAD. As in 232 pounds. So, I don't think I am helping the group with this challenge at all. I know I need to get back on the wagon, I just don't feel motivated enough. Or I don't care. I think I am just really down on myself. BLAH! I MUST lose this weight by June 2006 becuase of my high school reunion, or else I won't go...

                Hello again, everyone!

Splandrea- June gives you lots of time to lose!
I'm sure when June comes, and your putting on
your sexy outfit for the reunion, you'll be glad you started now.
Don't think you're not helping the challenge...we're all here to help eachother!

                Cruisergirl- awesome work!!!

Well, group...I think I've developed a fear of the scale. I feel I've been eating alot, and looking at the scale (without stepping) makes me anxious. I'm also confused as to what I should do, because I think my OCD isn't getting better with me thinking about this website 24/7. It's the first thing I look at in the morning, and the last thing I look at before I go to bed. I wake up everymorning thinking about having to lose weight, and I can't seem to think about anything else. I can't study because I always have one browser open on this site. But then again, I can't wean myself away because I love the people here and the support I get. I've distanced myself away from many of my friends because of the way I've been feeling, and this is the only "socializing" I get now. I guess it's time to up the effexor dose.

                  Re: Mid-Year Resolution, December 11-17

Atta girl Lots2lose!!!! A great way to plan on finishing the year!! Keep up the great work.

Andrea...you can do this..every pound that you lose is a success! Stick to the plan and you will be less than when you started this challenge! Do for you and for baby!!

Cruisergal...Congrats on getting into the 180's!!! Hoe exciting. You can post anytime you weigh..there is not a set date to do it.

Kinkay...how is the job hunting going? If thinking about this website and our weight lose and keeping a browser open means you have OCD then a LOT of us will have to be diagnosed with it! I do all of the above. Especially in the beginning. LOL...as a matter of fact I have 2 browsers open to this website most of the time. Sometimes 3...but I try not to do that...LOL! As for the scale. Why don't you concentrate on reading the book and learning as much as you can and sticking to plan and not worry about stepping on the scale until NYE if it makes you anxious? I would suggest though that you take your measurements now though. Here are the reasons...you are already so close to your goal that a small drop of weight will make a visual difference so even if the scale only slightly moves...that might make you discouraged even though the clothes are loser. Also since you are getting your Gazelle soon your weight may actually go UP. Do not panic if this happens. You will be replacing fat with muscle and that weighs more on the scale...BUT it takes up less space so while the scale may lie to you the tape measurer will not! Be prepared for that!! Between the Effexor and listening to the music I hope you are starting to feel calmer. You can do this!!

                  Be a great day everyone!

                    Re: Mid-Year Resolution, December 11-17

Hello everyone. Sorry I have been away so long. We have been having major internet problems at home. I am still hanging in therethough and think of you all often. Hopefully they have the internet problem fixed now.

I am so proud of everyone for sticking with this through this hectic and temptation filled time of year. I had resolved not to weigh at home since I was really becoming stressed out over it. I had a gynecologist appointment last week and weighed in at 192. I checked it with my scale at home and it was right, so I am happy about that. Onederland feels good. I won't make it to 183 which was my goal, but I am happy with my losses nonetheless.

Happy Holidays to all of you!

                      Re: Mid-Year Resolution, December 11-17

                      Elsie,

I got my previous job back. I talked to my manager and she was happy to have me back. I need to learn how to face my problems.

I'm honestly afraid of measuring because last time I did, I cried the entire night.
I have all the wrong measurements. Big thighs, flat chested and small hips. I really hate my body.
I like women with curvy hourglass figures and in the past I tried almost everything to make my hips and breasts bigger including taking birth control pills and breast enlargement pills.
Breasts aren't even that important to me. It's the hips I'm obsessed with.
The thing that annoys me most is I NEVER gain in my chest or hips. ONLY in my arms and thighs!
I also steer clear from seeing myself naked (which measuring requires) because I have severe keratosis pilaris (a skin condition) and it makes
                      me want to vomit.

My weight will go up with my gazelle? I thought it was aerobic? I don't know much about working out though. These few days I've just been doing a cardio dance or WTP.

Twg...Don't forget to change your signature to reflect your pounds lost!

Woman...hang in there as best as you can!!!! Don't use this as an excuse to eat whatever, however much you want!! Be as healthy as you can.

Kinkay...your weight on the scale may read higher if you are building muscle because muscle weighs more than fat. BUT fat takes up more room...so the scale may go up even though your measurements...or the way your clothes fit...since you don't want to take measurements...the clothes will fit better. So maybe you can go by how a tight pair of pants fits now and you will be able to tell when they fit you better. Last week Rybread was talking about now that she is getting down in weight it is more about the way the clothes fit than about what the scale says. And you are getting smaller already at your height and weight so every pound will make a difference. Make sure you use lots of moisturizer now that winter is here for your keratosis pilaris. Are you journalling??
