  • STAC New Year's eve challenge Dec 25 - 31

Okay, I went ahead and setup the thread that will take us to that New Year's Eve. I'm writing this at 12:35 a.m. Christmas morning.

Finally, my back is not hurting constantly and I'm beginning to get in more and more walking time. I'm also going to give myself just a bit of a pat on the back. I've managed to successfully avoid even one tiny bite of any of the many Christmas goodies that are in such abundance. Last night Michael and I stayed at my sister's house, and this morning I made breakfast for the whole gang. We had both pork and beef sausages, cheese omelets, toast and jam, and, in honor of the one member of the family who's Jewish, latkes. (How that came about is a long story for another time). I, of course, passed on the toast and latkes, but very much enjoyed the rest.

I made a batch of homemade Splenda sweetened cranberry sauce this afternoon, and just finished a huge New York style cheesecake made with Splenda and a pecan flour crust. I plan to eat in a true celbratory style tomorrow, but all legal.

Here's wishing all Christian members a wonderful, happy, and merry Christmas, and to the Jewish members a wonderful start to Chanuka!

Thanks for getting this last part of our challenge started for us, Chris!

All is going well here. I haven't gone off plan either in food, water or exercise at all. Let's just hope all those darn hormones have cleared out and the scale will tell a happier tale in the morning!

    Merry Christmas!!!

Terrie, I swear it's just the two of us, now! I won't go into meal by meal details, but I've stayed totally on plan, so far. I'm really looking forward to celebrating the New Year. When I joined this challenge I weighed 171 pounds. As of this morning, I'm down to 159.5. I'm living proof that if you stay on the plan, exactly as written, it works and works well!

Hey, Chris! Yep, they left us all alone!!!

Congrats on your loss!! WOOHOO!!! I'm not losing that fast, but in spite of getting closer and closer to my usual plateau weight, I AM STILL LOSING!! Yay!!!

I don't know why the whole world doesn't join us in this WOE. It's yummy and it makes you feel SO good. I won't go meal by meal either, but I have also been totally on plan with my food. Exercise got a little derailed by the fact that it snowed a TON and they declared "Road Condition Red" (only mission essential vehicles on the road). Oh well, I'm sure chasing my dd around the hilly field out back and pelting her with snowballs with burn about the same number of calories as my usual time on the Elliptical!!

We are gonna start the New Year off as healthier and happier versions of us. I love it!

Okay, yesterday turned out better than expected!! Dd and went sledding for about 1.5 hours and we were RUNNING up the hill between slides. She turned to me and said, "Momma, I'm so glad you found Dr. Atkins and can come out and play with me now!" I gave her a BIG hug and tried not to let the tears freeze on my cheeks!

Food was on plan for yesterday and I did get to work out (60 min elliptical) while she was at swim practice. Of course, that ended up being followed by a 20 kph trip down 3 VERY steep and snowy hills to get to the Autobahn (which HAD NOT been cleared despite the propoganda machine that tells you that Autobahns are kept clear at all times! ). But, we made it home safe and sound and we get to do it again today. Yay.

Oh, boy. I found you. I did accept the original and I was an awesome challenge-ee for a bit. I went through boot camp with flying colors and was even down a few pounds. Then it happened. I forgot myself! I just feel all apart and here I am again! Starting anew. <sigh> I have never felt more miserable than when I was eating all that I wanted to eat! Bleh. SO, back on track. I accept the New Years Eve challenge even if it is only three days! Thanks for looking for me.
            149.8/no weigh/ 119

            1st goal: 139 (earlier weight)
what the rungs mean to me:
            rung 1 - more veggies
rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
            rung 4 - berries, melon
            rung 5 - wine -
            rung 6 - beans, hummus
            rung 7 - other fruits
rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
            Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range
            (on to pre-maintenance)

Shannon, I'm so glad you came back. I'm writing this on New Year's Eve, so tomorrow morning you'll have the good feeling of being back on track and totally in control.

Terrie, we made it! My official weigh day isn't until Tuesday, but, if it stays the same as it is right now, I will have dropped 13 pounds over the course of the challenge. I truly miss Cleo, and can hardly wait until I can get in touch with her to tell her how I did. May she have a blessed 2006.

                WOOHOO!! Yay for us!!!

I weigh in tomorrow and, while I don't think I lost a lot over the challenge, at I KNOW I didn't gain any despite all my hormone issues. Plus, I know the challenge set me up for success from now on because if I could stay on plan for exercise and eating during the holidays I have NO reason for falling off the wagon during "regular" life!

I already worked out today and my dh is running around saying "You've exercised every day this year!"
