  • August 1st Tape Measure Challenge

    Hi everyone! I'll be finishing the Father's Day Challenge this week and I really want to do another one.

    Many of us have been lamenting the fluctuations of the scale...and I'd like to challenge all of those in that challenge and any of the rest of you to a tape measure challenge beginning June 19 and going through August 1st. That's six weeks. If you are doing some of the exercise challenges, this would be a great one.

    We won't worry at ALL about what the scale says. This challenge will be to measure our successes by what the tape measure says. This would be great for anyone on Induction and OWL.

    You can get a free account at http://mybodycomp.com/ which will show where and how to measure and give you a place to record your weekly measurements. You can then get reports comparing week to week your losses and body fat percentages.




    My goal for this challenge is to lose 15"

    Joy,

    Sounds good to me. I am having surgery July 5th will be laid up for 6 weeks, so I can't make any garauntees after that. But, Until then this sounds great. I have no idea how many inches I will lose. I have never measured before, other then the father's day challenge. I only have my first measurements for that. I havent measure again since, hmm wonder if I lost any??? Will it blow the end reults (surprise) if I measure now??? I will have to consider that. I do alot of aerobic, and little weights...

    Well, any whoo to make a long story short, I am in...

    I want my tummy to look like yours!!!!

      Ok Joy,

      I need my support group so I'm reading everthing on the link right now . I want a totally flat tummy and smooth legs (that's my goal). And I need to look good in a Bikini

        Hooray! Bjs and Cher, I'm so glad you guys joined!

        I came up with my inches lost goal by looking back over the last 12 weeks and then upped it just a little bit...I'm going to be aggressive for the next six weeks because I want the inches GONE.

        I'm going to be doing HIIT cardio and weight training. On my HIIT days, I'm also going to do abs...especially the lower abs.

        We've got to get Silly and Kittie over here too.

          You knew I'd come over here. I'm a notorious scale-stepper. The scale has not been my friend lately.

          As for my goal? Well I have a few.
          • Flatter stomach. I want to get rid of that muffin top!
          • Fit into a jeans size that's one digit (preferably size 8, but 9 would suffice.)
          • Lose more off my hips. They're the worst. The width is exactly the same as when I started.
          By the way... what is HIIT?

                I have got to figure out something to lose more inches. I have only lost 4 in 3 weeks. That seems really low. maybe I did not measure the same spots. I need to do better at measuring the right spots.

                hmmm, well we will see. I am in. Any suggestions on losing more inches would be great.

                    Thanks for the welcome Cher. I look forward to getting to know you all.

                    Hey, I've never really paid attention to my measurements before when losing weight. I don't even know what a realistic goal for me would be for 6 weeks. My exercise is pretty much like walking and aerobic, not weight-lifting yet. Maybe like 10 inches?? Does that seem realistic for my size? or should it be more? or less? Heck, I don't know...hehe...

                        Liz, welcome! We'd LOVE to have you. I'm so happy you are going to give this a go. I think you'll lose more than 10 inches. For all the places you are going to be measuring, and with you just starting out, I think you are going to see the inches flying off of you. However, I'm guilty of doing this...set my sights low and then EXCEEDING them LOL

                          Kittie, I think all of those are great ideas. HIIT is High Intensity Interval Training. You only need 20 minutes a day 3 days a week!! What you do is a few minutes warm up and then you do one minute intervals of normal rate and one minute of FAST and then a few minutes of cool down.

                          If you do walking for cardio, you walk for 3 minutes to warm up and get your heart rate up, but still can breathe through your nose and talk a little bit. Then do one minute so fast (or jog) but you want that one minute to be HIGH INTENSITY....mouth breathing, not able to talk, and tongue hanging out of your mouth. Then go back to walking until you can breathe through your nose again. Do one more minute at that rate, then one minute back at the high rate again. As you get fitter the one minute intervals will get closer together.

                          If you do web searches on that, you can read some of the science. The professionals say that this too will increase your metabolism and burn FAT faster and for HOURS after you are done with your cardio.

                              I'm feeling much better now so I gotta get back on the exercise train. Ilost 10 inches in the 6 week challenge we just had, but I think I'm nearing my goal to the point where I won't lose that much again.
