Re: August 1st Tape Measure Challenge

    Hi Dotsamantha

Wow.. you've already lost 31 pounds. Congratulations! You've been doing an awesome job! 7" across the body is a great challenge. I haven't determined my goals yet, but I hope I'll lose that too. Welcome to the inches challenge. Is your name actually Samatha?

Re: August 1st Tape Measure Challenge

OK-- I am going to set my goal at 8 inches...I really plan on kicking things up before my surgery. I need to kick up cardio to boost my oxygen to promote my healing and recvoery time form anesthesia.

I wan to kick up strength training so I am nice and strong before having to be sedentary for a few weeks.

This can all only benefit me heatlh wise, and seteem wise if I accomplish it I will be happy too.

YEAH!! I am getting so excited.

Life is short -- play hard!!

Okay, I'm in. as far as exercise goes, I will promise to do my "back" exercises (core) at least 4 times per week. I haven't been diligent about it, I need to be and will hope to see some muscular improvement! I'm still in the Father's Day challenge which has been extended until July 4th! Since not much has changed with me here are my starting stats again

Goal: 1" from each and maybe more hip would be kinda cool too!
          Chest 34
          Boobs 37
          Ribcage 33
          Waist 32
          Hips 40
          Thighs 22
          Bicep 11.5 and mushy!

Joy - Thanks for the compliment! I think I'll stick with your advice and set my goal fairly low so I don't get too discouraged if I don't meet it. So...

My goal: Lose 12 inches in 6 weeks.
            LIZ
            27/5'3''
            Highest: 365
            Restart: 352 on 10/1/07
            *Mini goal 3: 299*
            Goal: 150 (going skydiving!)

The difference between try and triumph is just a little umph!

You won't be discouraged no matter what. It's really fun to check in with the others each day and it certainly keeps us all accountable! You'll see, we all have our ups and downs! The good thing about inches is that you can not lose pounds and still lose inches!

That's true Silly. I am excited about checking in with you all every day! I definitely need someone encouraging me to get my butt off the couch!

Joy-Thanks for noticing the 8 pounds lost. Yep, I just started my second week of induction. I'll probably go into extended induction after that. Looks like you'll be at your 2nd goal in no time!

Liz, you're doing one heck of a good job with 8 lbs lost in the first week! Way to go! Have you got your tape measure yet??? Definitely get started with them right away.

Have you been to Linda's Low Carb recipe site yet?? http://users3.ev1.net/~fontlady/

I'm on my second time around on Atkins and I'm attributing my success to two things...I only stayed on induction for 4 weeks, and even then I made sure that I made my food as appealing to ALL my senses as I possibly could. That web site has AMAZING recipes. I've also got a couple cookbooks, Dana Carpenders 500 more Low Carb Recipes and George Stella's Livin LowCarb.

I am going to give this challenge a whirl. I had taken my measurements (not all that is on the link provided), but the major ones. Since April 1st when I decided to start Atkins (but didn't do very well) to now, day 2 of clean induction, I have lost 3.5 inches! I am going to aim for 7 inches. I am not really sure how to gauge how many I will lose? Oh well I'm hoping for at least 7!

                              Week 1 (6/21-6/27)
                              1. Drink at least 1 gallon plain water daily
                              2. Try at least 3 new recipes (this will be tough-I always prepare things the same-this will encourage me to try things differently and include foods that are different for me)
                              3. Try at least 5 new foods on acceptable foods list (this will also be tough being that I only have a set food list of about 10 things I eat)
                              4. Begin exercising by walking everyday.
                              5. Take a before picture of myself

Count me in for this challenge. I'll set a goal of a total of 10 inches to loose. I'm slowing down, but with being off for the summer, I'm upping my cardio and going back to lifting weights, so I think 10 inches is reasonable.
