Re: Cleaning it all up for Christmas

I was looking at my fitday...I was only about 55% fat calories all day...way too high on the protein. THAT was part of my problem. I've got to get the fat up earlier in the day. Maybe I'll go boil some eggs and make egg salad to eat for breakfast. That's nice and high in fat.

LOL! I just did my Stat journal and it dawned on me how much the percentages matter! I slacked in statting and ate too many legal carbs over the holiday. So since DH left on Sunday I've been doing really well and looking back at my stats I can plainly see me getting back into the swing of it.

First my calories were off, then one day the protein was high. Today I had to have some cheese just to balance my % and stay within calorie range! Diligence pays off!

Thanks for starting this thread Joy!

Re: Cleaning it all up for Christmas

I saw a thread in someone's journal where they were saying they'd been too low on fat, and they were having issues. So, I go look at mine, and sure enough that's been my problem today I think. I felt RAVENOUS this afternoon.

Re: Cleaning it all up for Christmas

          My problems are:

          1. I am sick of meat, fish, eggs and cheese and am more or less forcing myself to eat them at the moment.

          2. I crave non-proteins. I want stuff in my mouth that tastes of anything but proteins - wheaty, potatoey, fruity, sweetie, munchy, crunchy creamy things.

          3. Since the weather turned cold, windy and wet and the mornings are dark I am really struggling to keep up with exercise. I told myself I will have one day on, one day off, but I enjoy the day off so much that the next day I want to enjoy another day off.

Every day I feel a strong pull towards snuggling up on the couch with lots of comforting, winter-warming carbs. I am fighting it.

I know I need to be clean, but I have the least willpower or discipline of anyone I know.

I see Xmas looming like a big, scary threat to me. I am soooo weak at the moment I am scared of overdosing on carbs.

I started the day well, so maybe there is a glimmer of hope for me.

Re: Cleaning it all up for Christmas

I'd like to join here too. I just started on the 24th and caved on the 4th day with M&M's and Chex mix... and am still kicking myself for that. I'm also really scared about Christmas coming, all the goodies at work are going to be hard to stay away from. I need to plan to bring things I can snack on so I won't be tempted as much.

I think this thread would really help keep my focus where it needs to be.

Helena and winter, I know from past experience that being in a challenge like this, especially with Joy will be great for both of you! Come here daily to report!

Helena, all I can say is the longer you stay away from "frankenfoods" the quicker your body will not want goodies anymore! The cravings DO fade away! Maybe you need to jazz up your meat recipes to keep you strong! Joy is good for that too because she loves to cook and eat great food!

Re: Cleaning it all up for Christmas

                Helena,

Welcome to our little group. Christmas looming ahead is just what this thread is all about. Those foods are NOT your friend. Those foods are what got you fat in the first place, and they are evil. They might taste good, they might make you feel good, but heck...Crack Cocaine does too. Those foods are NOT your friend. They are NOT warm and fuzzy.

I can make just about ANY food to replace something I miss that's high carb. There are a few exceptions, those Mars Bars would be one...but when i See candy bars (most of the time) I see the crack cocaine...and I don't want to go there. Ya know?

Hopefully, I can lure you into cooking....I'm a pretty lazy cook, so my recipes are SIMPLE. There are lots of recipes going up these days, and while they look scrumptious...I won't try them if there are more than about 6 ingredients LOL

Winter, we are all about getting ourselves back into ketosis and back under appetite suppression so that we CAN be strong for Christmas. Welcome!

Re: Cleaning it all up for Christmas

Cooking is something I really want to start doing. Since my divorce I got lazy with that because I didn't want to cook for one. But I can eat so much better and it doesn't take much effort. I'm looking forward to some new recipes. Ohhh... and I discovered Linda's low carb site that everyone raves about. Oh my - there are some GREAT recipes there!

Try the mock-a-foni and cheese! It's sooo good and is now a staple around here!

My Dh is out of town and I was sooooo looking forward to NOT cooking for a few weeks. BUT, but DS lives at home, has no money, is overweight and has been told to "take care of Mom", so he wants a real dinner every night!

Sounds like he's takin real good care of you, silly!!!!
                      HA!

winter, oh yeah Linda's is awesome. I love the green enchilada chicken.

Here's another one...take egg whites and beat them until they are fluffy like marshmallows, spread them thinly on a pan and bake until browned, it makes a great "bread" or "cracker" or "pizza crust" and completely induction legal.

So, let me tell everyone what I did that was atonement for bingeing (even if it was with cheese and fruit) and not exercising yesterday...

Today, eating on plan. AND I actually brought my workout clothes to work, CHANGED INTO THEM, and ACTUALLY WENT AND WORKED OUT! (instead of just whining about it)

It's cracking me up how good DS is being! It's only been 5 days so we will have to revisit this in another week! He's so cute!

Why not add Splenda and make merange (or however you spell it) cookies? Or sprinkle the top of them with parmesean and some herbs? Great idea there Joy!

Yummy.... that sounds good, I'll try it. I was missing having a sandwich so I've been using lettuce "bread" too.

You're making me feel guilty about the exercise, I haven't done much in the last couple days. Ok... it's to the gym tomorrow for me too!

Oooh yeah Silly, parmesan and herb. That would be really really good.

Winter, hey...if guilt does the trick...we can lay on the guilt trips too LOL Whatever works to get you on track and losing weight and feeling good and exercising so that you get the exercise endorphins going...yeah.

Helena.....when I miss exercise days, I lose my momentum and revert to my couch potato ways really, really quickly. I don't do exercise because I like it or love it or whatever people say...I do it because I like the results it gets...and that's it period. I wish I loved it...it would certainly make it easier to do. In the meantime I buy cute workout clothes to try and tempt myself with that.
