So 40 pts for you, Brady? Do you wish to do the extra credit as well?

It's the end of another week everyone.

You know, I think these little tweaks and the support from the members of this challenge is actually working. I had lost two pounds with stomach flu, and then gained them back with my first good meal, and now one has come off again.

I am convinced it's the doing of more exercise or specifically, more than zero, which was what had been my habit ( `I've had nothing yet,' Alice replied in an offended tone, `so I can't take more.' `You mean you can't take less,' said the Hatter: `it's very easy to take more than nothing.' ).

I think cutting out the cream or creamer and splenda of the coffees has not hurt either, and my at least being conscientious of my calories and random nibbling.

Little changes cause you to gain weight, and little changes can take it off again. Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi guys! I've had a rough two days, but finally better once again. It's a rollercoaster most days. Who wudda thought that I would miss weighing in??? I've decided not to weigh until all bandages, heavy plastic drains and hardware are off and out of my body. I am now promised that it will all be gone by the 29th, but they said that about the 23rd before. I'm still hideously swollen, too, and it's not even TOM. (Brady is used to TOM talk!) I'll be so upset if I finally get rid of surgery swelling and Aunt Flo decides to come for an extended stay!!! That's what happened after surgery last summer.

It seems that everyone is settling in very well on this challenge. I know all my challenges are very motivational and keep me honest. I'm having fun with them all.

Y'all come back and check in more! It will help us all. Don't make me come after you!

        Sunny!

          Glad things are better Sunny!
My week in review...rollercoaster...from all-time best weigh-in on Monday to two days later feeling blimpy for no reason, then good then bad...today I had a brilliant day, worked out for an hour solid, ate so healthily and well, worked hard, the works...then I at my new fav food TVP for dinner and now I feel all yucky. So, there it is. Basically if you love something it's a bad sign. You gotta set it free. What I do is cook it and mix in taco seasoning, then wrap it up in napa cabbage leaves (crunchy just like tacos...sort of) and a smidge (too much) ketchup. So good that I can't stop. So I guess it was a good lesson. I can't even be trusted with reconstituted soy protein molecules. (I made faux-oatmeal with it the other day too, delish, exactly like the real thing). All in all this challenge has helped so so much, I never counted cals before and I recorded food the old-fashioned way which wasted paper and let me be too loose with my carb counting. Funny, someone said to me once about being on diet, that the last person she wants to cheat is herself, and I realised I'm the first person I want to cheat! Another challenge is we're away for the weekend and husband has planned about six places where he HAS to go and eat. But weigh-in is on Monday, so I'll be strong!!!! Have a great one everyone.

Ummm...I was gonna ask what the heck is TVP, but you answered my question with that oh, so taste-tempting reconstituted soy protein molecules description. Yum! With ketchup, no less...pardon me I think I'll make a copy of your post and any time I am having a munchie attack, I'll just read it.

Glad to see you back, Sunny! Hope you keep doing better.

It was an OK week. I started exercising more. Keeping up with challenges here pretty well. Just kinda worn out by the end of the week and tomorrow will be a very long day. I won't be around to check in, going with 350+ band kids from 8 am until 2 am Saturday. Will help them put on their show at least twice.

Hope everybody has a great weekend!

You're a scream, Sunny!! Thanks for the huge laugh!
Ah, when you put it like that... actually, I promise if I were to feed to it you (don't retch) it'd be much better than you think! Exactly like minced meat except for the slimey oil residue in the bowl....You'll have to take my word for it!

We just got back from such a relaxing two days away and I semi-survived the eating out. Unofrtunately yesterdaywe went to a Japanese restaurant where EVERYTHING was cooked or dressed in a sauce that involved sugar, so I struggled there. This is a place I used to love and never noticed the sugary dressings and sauces before.
But today I did so well We slept late so by the time we got to a restaurant it was after 2pm. I had chargrilled salmon with a herb sauce and instead of the corn/bean side I got double field greens. So so good, I think back and start salivating~
So getting psyched up for tomorrow's weigh-in...and very nervous too, because I've only ever gained after a loss. I'm doing a tweak on my resolves too. Hold thumbs for me guys!!! And good luck!

Slimey oil residue...Trust me; I'll be taking your word for it! I've never had the nerve to taste mincemeat, either!

Sounds like you did just great eating out. Oriental food is a killer: sugar, rice, rice flour, MSG and on and on. Haven't tried it in the last two years. I do have a low carb recipe for General Tso's Chicken, but I haven't tried it yet.

My two brothers (and spouses) took my sister and me out to Red Lobster tonight, before she goes home. I don't like it much, but I had a great meal tonight and was served by the best server ever. We had a ball. I had grilled trout, a Caesar salad, minus croutons and double veggies. Yummy! The server was so nice she gave me 26 baby carrots instead of the usual 21.

Hope your weigh-in goes well. I usually weigh in on Monday and Friday, but I still have huge bandages, heavy drains and lots of surgical staples. I'm supposed to get it all out tomorrow afternoon. OUCH!!

                  Sunny!

                    Hi you guys!
Sorry I've been awol... I had a hard time finding what I wrote as far as goals so will put them in right here again!
                    Drink 120 oz water/day
be strict with diet... no cheats keep doing what I'm doing...
workout 5 days/ week aerobically at least 30 mins per day (doing 1 hr now)
and wt train 3 days/week in addition to above (that's new... fear wt training will create temporary stall... oh well, gotta go through it sometime!)
                    take suppliments daily
push myself harder everyday! alternating with rest!
                    learn fit day!
okay... confession time: Forgive me Dr. Atkins for I have sinned.... am getting back on track though... until dinner tonight and ate a fortune cookie after forgoing the rice etc... !!!! that's me, and myself...
okay, here's the deal... I came home from London to San Diego and was evacuated (fires) and am a tad bit stressed... back home, all's well, and back on track... well, I was until the fortune cookie incident! just letting you know what the deal is with me... sigh! I'm up 2 lbs, but feel okay about that as I'm retaining water and think it'll come off quick. Well, going back to the gym tomorrow, drinking lots, taking my vits, and going to do induction for a few (more) days and then drop back up to rung 4. so that's the plan...

                          My goals for the week:
                          - Do the veggie challenge - yes done entirely
                          - 3 smoothies only - yes
                          - limit the cheese (I hear ya Brady!) to 3 oz day - did this each day
                          - No splenda - NO! Failed totally.

Also drank alcohol on the weekend and was REALLY ill! Serve me right.

Titianwasp - thanks for the PM. Sorry to have been awol I had a tough week for various reasons and then was away at the weekend.

                          This week:
                          - No splenda (should be possible as just chucked it all)
                          - No cocoa (ditto)
                          - Continue with the veggie challenge goals (17g veg per day)

                            Extra credit assignment:

On this WOL I have tried all of the following for the first time:
                            - Football (soccor) love it! Now play for a team and train once a week
                            - Bodypump - really love this (even more!). I would recommend this extremely highly for toning up, general strength and looking better naked I aim for 3 times a week, but often only make 2 for various reasons
                            - Bodycombat - I do this class before or after bodycombat if possible. Is like aerobics, but high impact and incorporating martial arts moves, though in a non-combatative way. Is good for building stamina and great fun.
                            - Boxercise - I tried this once and enjoyed it, but it doesn't have the appeal of the others. I felt kinda foolish punching a rubber man and lots of bags. The end of the class involved lots of sit ups, squats and jumping burpies (really hard and difficult to explain) which felt like a real push.

For last week, I was in the veggie challenge-so I'm adding that I need to have at least 20 net carbs of veggies a day last week.DONE

                              Extra credit-

I have done several new exercises since I started Atkins. I did Slim in 6 and really liked it. I had great results and plan on starting it again Nov 1. I also did Power 90--at least 60 days of it. I enjoyed it mainly, but think it's a little hard on this 48 yo body. Was having a lot of neck problems with it. I might do it again, but only 3-4 times a week instead of 6 times. I also started lifting weights. I enjoy that and see definite and fast muscle definition. I bought an exercise ball--I'll make it the new exercise I try with this challenge. I've been a little hesitant to try it, I'm not known for my grace or coordination. I also joined the pedometer challenge for 4 months now, that has helped me tremendously to up my walking. I enjoy exercise now and think it has helped me weight loss wise, mentally, emotionally and physically.
