    EXTRA CREDIT 11/26

Hey everyone - ok, question for this week is:

"What was your biggest misconception about this way of eating/Atkins?"

Extra Credit: for me, I didn't know that eventually I'd have to control my calories. Luckily that's not as hard when you eat foods with a high fat percentage.

Sorry you're sore, Sunny. Glad you got back on the exercise track. I hope the nerve block goes well.

We do have a lot to be grateful for, Titian. I hope this is a great week for everyone.
Thanks for yelling at the slowpokes for me! I was trying to, but kept getting "server too busy" message. I thought supporting members didn't get that message. Must have been the other BB I belonged to with the same web host.

I worked out my soreness by mid-day yesterday. I've got all my exercise in for the day, except for a walk outside. It feels GREAT!

        Sunny!

I am slacking on exercise today. My gym buddy is stuck working on a project and I am just...slacking (rolls eyes).

Good for you, Sunny - one of us has to keep it up!

That I could eat so many veggies and yummy foods not meat, eggs and cheese. I made the mistake of having the Induction only mindset. I never read much past the beginning of OWL. I retreated to Induction for 14 days, and then climbed the rungs as they were meant to be climbed, and I have opened up my eating options considerably. It made for a very delicious, but legal, Thanksgiving feast.

It will get better! I promise! Look how well you did in the Muffin Butt challenge! Just do better next week. Last week is gone, so there's nothing you can do about it, but you can do something about from this day forward.

I had to sit down last night and make a list--get my priorities straight. I have been going a million miles an hour, and still, at the end of the day, my to-do list was only half done. Today, the list was no shorter, but by following my plan I got every single thing done and before dinner. Last night, I was finishing up my exercises at almost 9:00 p.m.--way too late with the disorder from which I suffer (to say nothing of just getting over surgery gone awry). Today, I was finished everything but my walk by lunch time! The walk was done by 4:00 p.m.

We're all in this together! Just keep on keeping on!

                Sunny!

"What was your biggest misconception about this way of eating/Atkins?"

I didn't think I would be able to eat so many different foods. When I first started Atkins, I thought I would be eating meat, cheese, eggs and mayo until I lost the weight I wanted to lose, and then I would be able to get off Atkins. But, I had it all wrong! I can eat so many things, even in the lower rungs and I now know Atkins is MY WAY of life and MY WAY of eating and I will always live MY WAY! I love Atkins and I am so thankful I've learned how to get and stay healthy. I also have gotten my DH to join me and he loves it, too! He's lost 50 pounds so far! I never thought I could get him to join me, but he did and he's happier and healthier than he's ever been! So, I guess my BIGGEST misconception was, I thought that this was a diet and not a way of life and I'm glad I was wrong!

My biggest misconception was not realizing how many veggies you're supposed to eat EVERY DAY. Also, didn't quite grasp that this is a forever way of eating, not just a quick weight loss fix. I did Atkins "my way" the first time or two, but didn't stick with it. I found this board and learned so many things--I'm doing it right this time and it's working!

Glad you didn't let a bad week get you down, Purple--we're going to do great this week! And, even if we have a slip, we're still making progress.

Yay everyone. What cheerful, upbeat posts. Makes me so happy when I see that.

My stats for the week, aside from the extra credit, were nil. I have done some exercise, but I have been overboard with calories, carbs, coffee and any other c-word...ah, "cheating!".

Back on track this week. All is well.

                        Hi guys,

I need to adjust my goals a bit, but for the meantime am going to focus on getting out of that 'one bite is okay' mentality I've discovered in the past week. Before, I would taste something illegal that I cooked for my family and then spit it out (sorry to be graphic) as I was so paranoid of ingesting extra carbs. Also, with this cold, am having a struggle drinking all my water for the first time ever! Too much tea! SO I need to warm my water and keep glugging.

Biggest misconception: I have to say the same as all of you - all the veggies we can and should eat. I love it! And it's encouraged me to branch out with new recipes, trying new ideas I never would have tried on any other 'diet'. And I've finally got it into my head that this WOL/WOE is a lifetstyle and not something one goes on or off. When people say they are quiting for a month, I don't really get what they mean - so they're going to carb-load? Eat donuts? If I told myself I was going off this, I'd probably eat the exact same foods because they're what I love.
                        Have a great evening!

Hey Aya - how come no photo? And heck, you are in Massachussetts too! Nice to have folks a little closer to home.

hanging my head in shame here. I fell (leapt really) from the wagon yesterday. I don't know what my goals for the rest of the week should be. Erm.

                              - Eat 25g carbs per day
                              - Plan next month's exercise (I've lost the plot here too)

Titian, yup, I'm in Williamstown (bet you've never heard of it!) for the year because of my husband's work so not tooooo far. We'll back back in Boston in July next year. We have William's College here, but that's IT.
I don't have a pic because...I'm kinda shy I guess. And I don't really tell people that I follow this WOL...but what the heck! Lemme get my stuff together and sort out a pic.
