Well Mitzi, you certainly dont look old enough to be my mum, I would have put you at 30.

I *still* dont think I can reach 140lbs, even though I know my goal should probably be 130lbs, just getting down to 154 was hard enough.

I'm glad we're in this challenge together too, we can be challenge buddies!

Ur pics are truly inspiring. What exercise do you do? x

About the tummy thing... while I think that I do look good in clothes now, I do still have a jelly-belly. I have 6 pounds left until I reach goal, and I think that most of those pounds are in my belly.

When I started Atkins at 215 pounds, and even after I had lost some weight, I never dared dream that I could ever actually weigh under 140 pounds. I am a believer now!

I don't often find people with stats so similar to mine because I'm short... I'm glad we're in this challenge together.

I'm going to include a couple of pics here that I have posted elsewhere on the board, in hopes that it may inspire you. I weighed more than 215 here, but I don't know how much... I was avoiding the scale then.

I went bright red and said I'd put on loads of weight.

I dont know whether to laugh or cry..........

You must carry a lot of your weight in your tummy, like me. I'm apple shaped so I have no butt or fat legs, they're skinny but my stomach is big, therefore people really think I'm pregnant becuase they just see this big belly. One day we were coming home from the movies, (dh, ds and I) and we were waiting for the bus when this homeless man asked my husband for money. My dh said he didn't have any and that's when the homeless man asked him if I was pregnant. When my dh said no, the homeless man asked him (right in front of me) why are you with her? UGH! I normally don't let things like that bother me, especially coming from some drunk homeless guy but it bothered me, it did. When I got home I started to cry. I wish I would've laughed. I feel your pain. I wish I would've done something about my weight right then and there but I didn't, I just ate more and gained 20 more lbs. which put me at my all time high weight. That was 3 years ago and I still remember that incident like it was yesterday...anyway please don't let it get to you. You are doing this!!! And pretty soon you're gonna be so thin that people will be asking you if you're a model, not if you're gonna have a baby!

Fatactress - thank you for ur comments. As you can see from my b4 photo, I've got a big bum and a big tum!! Should balance it out but I'm losing weight from the back part of my body atm which is annoying!! Hopefully in a few months time I will look like Mitzi tho!! I'm sorry to hear about that homeless guy, sometimes we can take all the cr*p in the world for being overweight and even laugh at ourselves but some days, just one comment can make us cry. At least now we're on track to look like models!!

Heidi - In England we group 14lbs into a stone, so instead of 185 lbs, we would say 13 stone 3lbs. Not sure why!!

                  Hello, Angelstar

Thank you so much for saying I look 30 - yay!

About a goal weight... I think that 140 pounds is a great target to shoot for. Everyone carries weight differently, even if they are the same height. You can "fine tune" the final number as you get closer. 140 may be the perfect number... and if it's not, you can change it then.

As for exercise... I live in a really huge neighborhood (over 2000 homes), and that provides a great place for me to walk on some days and riding my bicycle on other days. I tried to get in at least 4 days a week doing that, but I am at the mercy of the weather. So, I have started doing some exercising to DVD's in my living room at home. I had to go through a lot of different kinds to find one that didn't bore me to tears or frustrate the living h*ll out of me... I finally did. For the past 8 weeks, I have been doing Tae Bo (kickboxing). So I try to alternate walking, biking, and Tae Bo for cardio. I also do an upper body dumbbell routine with 3, 5, and 8 pound dumbbells. I have also put together a routine of floor exercises for tummy and legs. I also do 300 or 400 crunches 3 times a week. If you feel inclined to do so, I have been making daily entries in Journal Stats for a while and you can get an idea of my daily routine there.

Wow, congratulations Kate on 8 pounds so far! I must report that my experiments on the nut rung ran afoul and I went up, but am now down 0.8 pounds. As soon as I stopped with the peanut butter, I dropped the weight I had gained (about a pound) and an additional .8 pounds! Well, live and learn! No more peanut butter for mean until maintenance.
Good luck to the rest of you!

Thanks for the info Mitzi. I go to the gym every week night after work, I get free gym as a benefit for working in a hotel which is such a bonus! So I try to go every week night, depending on my social diary! My routine consists of 5 mins warm up on tread mill, stretches, 20 mins on X trainer, weights, 50 ab crunches, 15 mins on bike, more weights, another 50 ab crunches and stretches to cool down. I've been going for about 4 weeks now and I'm really starting to sweat now, esp on the bike....I think sweating is a good thing!!
I might increase the amount of crunches that I do now seeing that you do nearly 400 a day!!

Heidi - maybe thats why us Brits use the word stone, it doesnt sound as much!! We're the same weight too!

Kate - Well done for another one down!! My other half has hidden the scales from me cos I was weighing every day!!

Great job on going to the gym so much! That will definitely make a difference. And yes... sweating is a great thing!

When I joined my first AB Challenge on the board, it took an extreme effort to do the 25 a day that I pledged. Each month, I increased my pledge. For a while, I was doing 300 (3 sets of 100) every day. As I added the upper body dumbbell work and more floor exercises, I dropped to doing the crunches only 3 times a week. I do either 300 or 400... depending upon how much time I have.

Keep up the great work... sounds like you've got everything under control.

OK Emma, I know that I am late as usual getting into things, but count me in on the Christmas challenge. However, I still haven't found my ACE yet and am only 14 lbs away from pre-maintenance. In addition we leave for Walt Disney World on 12/14, so that will be my last weigh in day for this challenge, so with all that being said, I am going to go a little conservative and say to put me down for 10 lbs for the challenge.

Today I weigh 224 lbs, so I need to be at 214 lbs by 12/14!!! Whew! The pressure is on and I haven't even made my Halloween challenge yet!
