  • DANDR Reading Group Chapter III--How You'll Succeed

I thought that since Joan is uber-busy and she said it was ok on her other thread, I'd start us on Chapter three, since she's been so good about keeping us going!

In Chapter three, Dr Atkins mentions ways in which we can succeed on this diet. After reading the chapter, please apply this information to the following:

1.) For what reasons do you want to succeed? Take them either from the given list or state your own reasons.

2.) What challenges are you overcoming because of this way of eating? Take them either from the list or state your own challenges.

3.) Do you still struggle with health? What has improved? Take from his list or list your own

4.) Which of his "Day to Day" Issues he says you can overcome have you had to struggle with lately?

1.) For what reasons do you want to succeed? Take them either from the given list or state your own reasons.

I'd like to succeed so that I don't always feel hungry, have more energy, don't think about food all the time, and be healthy for my kids!

2.) What challenges are you overcoming because of this way of eating? Take them either from the list or state your own challenges.

I am overcoming caffeine and not binging when my hormones are going winkydinky during PMS! If I can make it through a month without doing it, I will have learned some positive coping mechanisms! Also, it is hard for me to be excited about taking all the vitamins.

3.) Do you still struggle with health? What has improved? Take from his list or list your own

I still am a bit depressed because I can't walk 4 miles an hour (or 5) as I used to, but that is a weight limitation. When I am closer to goal, I'll be there again. I'm moving in that direction.

Improvements ate my blood pressure is normal and my energyu is so much more increased now!

4.) Which of his "Day to Day" Issues he says you can overcome have you had to struggle with lately?

I have had trouble with buying junk at the store for the family out of habit. Or I buy it because I want it, and at least they can have it. Weird rationalizing, I know! But I have to really struggle to NOT buy the donuts, even though I don't plan to eat them!

cleo you wil be surprised how fast you get to 4MPH if you have a steady walking program and keep pushing yourself to view it as exercise and not a pleasure walk I got back from 2MPH to 5MPH wil only a 100 pounds and 6 months done qwlaking every day on my treadmile for 45 min.

      Book club assingments
      reasons to succeed
I know this sounds corny but I just don't like to lose at something I decide to do or give up (hehehe and now y'all know why i came back to ADBB)

      challenges overcome
I was a cafeine addict yep 24 cans a day and supersized fast food soda too.
I know i am and always will be a carboholic and will be taking that tiger out for a walk every day and trying like heck to put him back in the cage too every day. I control what I eat and when and not mindlessly eat and drink as I do other things now. Did you know it is very loud at the movies if you don't eat popcorn LOL

      Health
through some altered healthier fats eating because of my genetic make up I have my cholesterol under 200 and my doc very happy. minew was always an LDL issue not the triglycerides most folk get bettered on Atkins.
day to day well i don't temp myself cause like I said I got towalk that tiger so I avoid the day to day places the temptations are in like the bakery or the icecream parlor or the dessert line.

I've been working pretty hard and burned over 1,000 calories last night walking 4 miles on an incline (my treadmill accounts for weight and expenditure due to variables). I'm pushing myself as hard as I can without hurting my back and getting shin splints.

I love your assignment answers! :joy I'm glad you're stubborn and a winner!
