  • Re: OPERATION "NO SWEETS" CHALLENGE

I made deviled eggs just now and put a little mustard in it... darnitall!!!! there's dextrose in the mustard. Haven't eaten any of that mustard... I bought some other mustard at the health food store but left it in the fridge at the lake... so now... I can't have the deviled eggs I just made!!! I'm so frustrated... I can't believe how much hidden sugar there is... it's unreal! I wish I had looked first.

I'm eating fruit though, and it tastes like candy to me... so sweet... melon and fresh pineapple. (just a few bites of pineapple... )

Awesome idea that I am trying to slowly get to. This year we did half candy and the rest a few toys and gifts. Next yr will be even less candy and eventually I want them to get maybe one candy item (whatever their fav is) and then like you, stuff they like.

            Mindy,
I realized the the challenge would be a difficult one. So now you get three chances instaed of one if you cheat or mistakingly eat sweetners. So 3 x and your out.

That sounds like alot of fun! You'll definately get some walking in that day. Any plans on quick snacks to take in the park with you? Last time I was there I took nuts with me. I was really glad I did.
              Enjoy your day!

I am going to eat my meat for breakfast and when I get there. Then I am going to have mostly veggies to eat while I am there. Then afterwards we are going to go out to eat. I will probably get a steak and salad. None of us want to eat while we are there, we know it will be too much money for barely mediocre food. The only problem I am going to have is keeping my friends from eating my food. I bought them some Stoufer's panini sandwiches so they have to leave my chicken and shrimp alone tonight.

                      Hi,
Easter dinner... what a disaster! Well, in the old atkins day's I'd have been fine, but now that I KNOW! it's a different story... mil put beef broth cubes in the vegetables, and the turkey roast tasted sweet... put me down for an X for the day... glad this day is over!!! Do I get 2 X's or 1 X for the day? how does that work? I ended up making more deviled eggs for myself so I could have some... since the first batch had 'tainted' mustard.

You guys, I just want to tell you that I have a 'benign brain tumor' that I was just diagnosed with in January... I've been reeling a bit with the diagnosis... anyways... I just wanted to say the words out loud and get it out there on the table... that's the reason I'm doing this challenge and why I'm not eating sweeteners... etc... it's a little different urgency for me. I'm not saying this to get sympathy or anything like that... I just need to say it. Athough I hate to be 'the woman with the brain tumor' but there it is.

I just spent a few hours talking with someone diagnosed about the same time who is retired and had the time and energy to pursue getting treatment sooner than the doctors recommended before she got worse and the tumor got bigger... what she had to say made a lot of sense and now I am also feeling a renewed sense of urgency to get this 'thing' burnt/fried out of my head and get on with my life. If I'm not around much in the next few days or weeks, it's because I'm going to be pedal to the metal to get this taken care of. If I wait to see if it grows, I could start having seizures or something... and I don't want that so I gotta get serious and take care of serious business. I'll let you guys know what's happening but I might not be around much. Okay? Thanks, and you could say a few words to the big guy upstairs for me too if you don't mind.
                        Much love and hugs,

Hey, Liz. Just wanted to lend you some support. My MIL was diagnosed with a Meningioma back in 1992, I think. She had it removed, and while she had some problems for a couple years with vertigo, the surgery relieved SO MANY health issues she'd been having. It really did help her. Hers was by the ear canal.

Anyway, that has been a very long time ago and it was a very successful surgery. Medicine continues to improve year by year, so that's good news.

It's a little eerie, because you and she LOOK alike. Every time I see your pictures it reminds me of her.

From a Peeper... Prayers for calm and complete healing for you, for guidance for your doctors, and for strength for your family. I don't know if this will be an issue with your situation, but I want to share it for you to consider. My brother's girlfriend had a tumor removed from the middle of her brain. She got through it fine but through the recovery she had short-term memory problems. So a head's up for your family; if you're cooking or baking, etc., you could forget you've got foods on the stove or in the oven. Exploded eggs on the stove really STINK! Again, many prayers to our Healing Lord above for you!
