    IT'S THE MAY WATER CHALLENGE -
    TIME TO SIGN UP NOW!


    Drinking enough water is vital on Atkins
    for many reasons:


    1) It helps to flush toxins and fats out of the body;
    2) protects the kidneys;
    3) prevents dehydration;
    4) helps prevent constipation;
    5) helps with water retention; and
    6) keeps your skin healthier


    This is one of the easiest challenges to can do - all you have to do is DRINK!!
    We don't take any days off - this is a month long challenge. It's up to you to post daily


    RULES

    1. Commit to an amount of PURE water you will
    consume each day (64oz minimum) - nothing but pure water counts toward this challenge so please don't count coffee, soda, tea, etc - just water!!

    2. Sign up A.S.A.P. We start on May Day

    May 1, 2010


    3. Post your total water intake once a day (ie: May 1 - 64 oz)


    4. All you have to do is post your name and how many ounces of water you are pledging each day.
    Each day put the date and number of ounces you drank for that day - it's that easy.

                I've been drinking 6L a day. 1 1/2L with each meal and 1 1/2L during my workout. I'll commit to continuing this quantity

                        Hi and welcome --- lots of new faces this time!! Great news! Maddy, to answer your question, yes you can drink too much and it's called Water Poisoning BUT the amounts we are drinking doesn't come close to the amount you would need to be qualified as having water poisoning. You can find many articles on the internet (and here) regarding drinking water - some people have read articles about someone dying of water poisoning but those cases are rare. The amount Dr Atkins recommended we drink is what this challenge goes by. And for anyone who wants to fight me on this, the challenge isn't mandatory to follow Atkins, it was set up long before I started Atkins as a way to get our water intake in daily - it's for fun - you decide how much you want to drink (as long as the minimum is done).

                        This month I'm going to use a X in place of the actual amount of water drank daily. If you drink your pledge you will get an X on the chart - if you don't, you'll get a red square.As always you'll get 3 days of not making your pledge amount before you qualify for the Honorable Mention award at the end of the month -- if you drink your pledge 3 or less days you'll get the full Award.

                        Ok -- how many more can we get to join us for May? If you know anyone who needs help tell them about the challenge - everyone is welcome. Just remember - come as often as possible (daily is real nice) to post the amount you drank for the day. If you miss a day or if I'm confused about your post I'll send you a PM and ask about it.

                        We start bright and early SATURDAY morning! No days off - we drink everyday! Can't wait to get started!
