  • My little bird is flying free.

Ian Hooshi Wasau.. aka Puffy Dog.. aka Muppet. January 5, 2000 - June 30, 2005.

Puffy Dog was my first bird.. she was a beautiful little Senegal parrot. I remember the first day she picked me out.. I went to the bird store after falling in love with my sister's Blue and Gold but I was afraid of big birds (funny, now I'm not afraid of big birds it's the little ones with sharp beaks that scare me) so I talked to them about getting a little bird and they suggested a Senegal. I was in luck too because they has some hathclings that were ready to go to new homes. I went in wanting to spend about $200.. and ended up spending close to $600. There were these two little bright green birds with grey heads that looked like they were wearing yellow jumpers... too cute. I picked up the first one and it was alright, I picked up the second one who had been standing in the corner of the cage and she nestled againest me and made the oddest little noise, like when people click their tongues. I fell in love right away and knew I had to have her. I ate nothing but top ramen and water for every meal for a month to pay for her.. I put her on layaway along with a cage for her. She came home exactly two months after she hatched.. I remember it well because that's the day after my little girl's birthday.. Puffy Dog was born on January 5, 2000 and came home on March 5, 2000.

I could post page after page after page of the funny, happy things she has done in my life and how happy she made me. She was my little clown who meowed and purred like a cat. She imitated the microwave and other sounds she took to liking.. one of her favorite sounds was a kissing noise that my nana made to her when she was talking to Puffy Dog. Puffy Dog liked to hang upside down like a bat.. and often traveled that way during car trips! I took her to Arizona to see some friends and she spent a majority of the car trip hanging upside down making noises at me.

Puffy Dog started going to work with my sister.. in my sisters jeep you have to swipe this microchip under the dash to make it go and it does this "beep beep" sound.. whenever we took Puffy Dog somewhere after that the minute she saw the car or my sister's jeep she'd go "beep beep".

Puffy Dog was always to smart for her own good She figured how to slip the latch on her food dish and water dish doors.. I got her a new cage and used that one just for when she was outside and I wired the doors shut. For some reason I took the wire off, not thinking I needed it anymore or something since we were moving or whatever reason. She had to stay at my Nana's while the paint and bug spraying was done down here.. she slipped the latch on her water dish door and my nana's mini-pin got her. We thought she had a chance.. the vet said nothing was wrong internally nothing was broken.. she drank a little bit of water this morning around 2 and ate a little wet noodles.. at 4:27am she was gone. We're burying her in Nana's backyard this afternoon when my sister gets home from work. Puffy Dog was loved by anyone who met her, and she loved people.. especially if they had cookies. I miss her so much.

My sister had two birds and I know she was extremely attached to them. They have their own personalities just like dogs or kitties and really create a special spot in our hearts. Here's a :hug and a reassuring :sympathy
