    Re: London am

I think it is on par with Sept 11. Maybe not on a physicial scale, but certainly on a psychological scale. I'm about 20 miles south of Washington DC. I still remember Sept 11 well. It's not nice this mixture of anger, anxiety, fear, and sadness.

But I'm confident in the British people. You all have proven yourselves over the centuries that you have the wherewithall to rise above adversity. And you all will be able to do it again.

This is a horrible situation and I think if we stick together we'll manage through it.

Again, keep safe. I certainly don't want to lose anyone in my ADBB family.

Thanks for letting us know Rich is o.k Dawn. I just found out about this here on ADBB, it's usually my first stop in the morning and I'm still in a bit of shock so all I can offer is my hugs and +prayers+. My sister and b-i-l were working in Manhatten (my sister was home which I didn't know at first) during Sept 11th so these things really shake me up. I'm sorry I don't have anything more eloquent at the moment. just hugs and prayers right now.

No it is not. The death toll is a lot lower. The physical damge to the city is much less.

On the pschological front, the British people are much more robust on these issues than Americans. We are celebrating this week the 60th anniversary of the end WW2 - the devastation of the blitz is still remembered. We have suffered far more at the hands of the IRA. As a challenge to democracy the IRA's bombing of the Conservative Party Conference with its direct targeting of Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher was a much more significant event.

Like everyone I express my sorrow and anger, and extend my sympathies to those hurt or berieved. But don't dramatise these events - you play into the terrorists hands. It was going to happen: it will happen again.

By Monday morning it will be businness as usual in those parts of London affected, and, provided they decide to run London Underground, tommorrow the greatest part of the captial will enjoy a reasonably normal day.

            Re: London am

I meant no offense to you, Labarum, or to the UKers. From my perspective, it's on par with 9/11 psychologically because it was an attack primarily on civilians going about their daily activities. It reminds me of how vulnerable we can be in this terrorism war and it brought back some memories of 9/11 for me. But, that's just my perspective.

Again, my thoughts and prayers to everyone there.

Keep a stiff upper lip chaps!

The British Army is kick-a$$...they know how to handle adversity.
My heart goes out to Londoners...I visited there about 10 years ago and it's a great city.
I don't think this changes anything. By killing innocent civilians the terrorists just keep digging a deeper hole for themselves.

After hearing the news this morning, I was upset and saddened. I remember how the world, and especially Great Britain, reacted to 9/11 here in the states.

My thoughts and prayers are with all the people of your country, especially the victims and their families and loved ones.
