I hope this is not an example of the storms to come this year.

But I do hope it makes its way to Virginia...we need the rain so badly.

Gee Robin, didn't you all get the leftovers from Cindy last night? Here in southern Maryland, it started raining about 10PM last night and didn't stop until 9 AM. My rain gauge in the garden was up to 2 inches when I left for work.

We didn't get any of Cindy either, it went right by us to the west even though they had flash flood warnings from 11am Thursday until 2 am this morning, we never got a drop. We need it desperatley too, only not hurricane strength please!

Wow, we had flash flood warnings posted all night long and into today. Amazing how Cindy jumped over you all.

              not2 and MOG

We did get some rain and it was good, but not enough, we need more. Our horse caught his halter on the water hydrant last week and bent and broke it. It pulled the automatic float out of the water and ran our pasture well dry. Its recoup'ed some but not as much as we would like.

I think areas further north to me got more rain.

We had the warnings too, and tornado warnings as well.

Re: Hurrican Dennis coming to Florida

I'm in Florida and it's my first hurricane season. Seems like as of right this minute, we're out of harms way, and its headed for Louisiana. Those poor people. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't anxious about this storm. My hubby and I stocked up on water last night. I felt kind of foolish, walking thru the grocery store with my cart overflowing with water. Better safe than sorry though. I feel bad for all those people in Cuba. They just keep getting hammered. I wonder if there is any sort of relief effort for Cuba and other islands that get rocked by so many hurricanes.

So many people in Port Charlotte, which is where hurricane Charlie hit last year still have blue tarps on their roofs, and now their preparing for another hit. It's like a bad joke.

Pray for us Floridians. We need a break.

Don't feel foolish about preparing! I've gone 11 days w/o power because of a hurricane and I'm 150 miles from the coast! We were wishing we had prepared!

If we lose power, I really don't know what we'll do. I guess our insurance would have to put us up somewhere. I don't really know. Scary thought. I made sure to fuel up the cars and get some cash from the bank. We always use our debit cards. I nearly forgot what cash looked like. As far as food goes, we're not that prepared. I noticed someone posted a menu for power outages. I guess I'll stock a cooler with summer sausage, cheese and veggies. We'll see.

Too bad it didn't veer a little north when it came upon Cuba. Could have wiped out the scum in Gitmo.

Re: Hurrican Dennis coming to Florida

I'm in south Florida on the east coast. Today (Friday) was beautiful sunshine but tomorrow we are supposed to get some feeder band storms.

I am prepared pretty good anyway. After last year when we got hit with 2 hurricanes, I dont take any chances. The first time i was without electricity for 7 days and 4 days for the second one.

I was lucky to find 2 battery operated fans that give off a good breeze. And lots of batteries.

I'm not putting much in my freezer during hurricane season anymore. It makes a stinking mess without electricity and alot of $$$$ lost.

Sending out prayers and good wishes for those in the path! TTdriver -- Take cover!!! and let us know that you are ok!!!

I'm on the East Coast of Florida so we are safe. We do have friends of friends being evacuated from the west coast and staying here for the weekend. Hoping all our friends in harms way will be ok.
