Man that is some powerful stuff. What is really funny is that today while I was walking I was just thinking about that exact same thing...walking across the country. I hope he does well.

I can't view the article, because I'm at work and it's blocked. Is he literally walking across the country? Or has he set a goal to walk that many miles in a specified amount of time?

OK, I just found another article that isn't blocked, about this guy. He's really doing it. If he keeps up his pace of 15 miles per day, it will take him 200 days to get to NYC. I hope he has a good map. What does he do for water? Is someone following him? What does he do when he has to go to the bathroom? Does he shower? I assume he doesn't have a job. What about his wife and kids? So many questions! I wonder how much weight he has lost so far.

The article doesn't go into much detail, it doesn't answer any of the questions you asked unfortunatley.

Here's a blog about it. I read a few other articles that answered my questions. He's lost 50 pounds, strained some ligaments, lost 3 toenails. Poor guy.

Re: Man Walks Across Country To Lose Weight

OK, I'm back. I can't stop thinking about this. If this guy were coming thru my town, I'd have him over for dinner with me and my hubby, and so he could clean up, give him a bed to sleep in over night, and then walk to the next town with him the next day.

I wonder if someone is going to end up sponsoring him. I'm thinking an athletic company of some sort. Maybe I should write to New Balance and suggest it.

Imagine how him and his family are going to feel when he reaches his destination. What an accomplishment. I'll admit, I think its a crazy thing to do, but sometimes crazy is good. I'm rootin for him.

Re: Man Walks Across Country To Lose Weight

This reminds me of the days when Rick Hansen rolled through my suburb of Vancouver, Canada during his last leg of his Man in Motion World Tour on his wheelchair...he went up the steepest hill in my hometown as well, and it was amazing to be a part of it.

I also graduated from the same university that Terry Fox attended and I think anyone who attempts and or succeeds to do these extraordinary activities for the betterment of humanity deserves a great honour! (even if its like this guy who wanted to get out of depression and lose weight...all the best to him!)

Aphex, that would be great if someone sponsored him! I gotta check out that blog you linked again.

The above company is sponsoring Steve. They also have links to his page with his journal. There are several other companies sponsoring, in addition to many people who have made donations. How cool is that? Go Steve!

I thought Steve deserved a bump up since I saw someone started a new thread about him in the main forum. I'll have to go check his website and see how he is doing now.
