  • Why I love Atkins!

Here's a link to some Weight Watchers cards circa the 70's. This site is sooooo funny. I had a post to it awhile back and thought I should share this again. There is some bad language so don't look if you're offended by it. I still crack up when I visit this site... http://www.candyboots.com/wwcards.html enjoy!

This was hysterical! I was actually doing Weight Watchers in 1974, as a high school senior! Not hard to figure out why that wasn't a lasting change, huh? I do recall a recipe for banana bread made with grits -- I was sooo disappointed to not see it in the collection!

I was already having a hard time figuring out what to have for supper, with no appetite. Funny and nauseating as h***, all rolled into one!

Tell me your lying just so I feel better. Just kidding. The first time I've ever even seen grits is when I visited my sister in North Carolina...they were actually on menu's! When they visited last year I bought some for my little niece (she loves em) and I could only find one brand in a box on the very top shelf in the grocery store. Grits aren't big here I guess...lol. My sister likes them with cheese...I didn't care for them at all...guess it's an acquired taste.

We don't have them much here in the midwest. I think that the Waffle House has them. But I eat them when we go down south. I like my grits with sugar, butter and milk! That's not Atkins friendly though.

              Re: Why I love Atkins!

I'm originally from central British Columbia and bf and myself went on a trip to Vegas (this was years ago) and we went for a 2for1 buffet at the Maxim, and that's when I saw grits for the first and only time ever.

I had no idea what they were (I still don't, so please enlighten me) and I had no idea how to eat them. I put a little dollop on my plate furtively, thinking someone was probably watching me whispering to their friend "That woman just put grits on her plate!" when they're supposed to be in the little bowls I saw on the counter near them....I was clueless!

I tasted them and they didn't do much for me one way or the other, but I think it's just because I needed someone to explain them to me...lol..

Everytime I have a longing for something horrible like donuts or brownies etc I remember what I am allowed to have and *poof* I feel better! I can't believe people actually ate that stuff!! I love the one with the celery stick in the beef bouillon drink (or whatever it is) that cracks me up everytime!
