PONTIAC, Mich. - An Oakland County judge has sentenced a man to two to 20 years in prison for mutilating a body stolen from a suburban Detroit hospital.
Calvin Spann, 22, of Detroit confessed to the theft and told Circuit Judge John McDonald on Monday that he and his co-defendants planned to use the body to smuggle cocaine and marijuana.
"I'm deeply sorry," a sobbing Spann said at the sentencing. "I'm sorry to the family. We did steal your loved one ... and I hope you can forgive me."
