  • Well, almost made it...

I'll make a more detailed post later.
I made it to about 11,100 feet and I had to turn around due to "altitude sickness."
I'm pretty disappointed but at the same time proud I made it that far.
    Here are some pix:
Day 1: Me practicing "self arrest" during climbing school:

    Day 2:To the summit!

Day 3: I got bored waiting for the rest of my group to get down from the summit so I made a little "Rainier Rock Collection":

My final picture I took of Rainier on the way down:

I'll post something more detailed tomorrow.

      (((Iap)))

I know about that altitude sickness... had it before on the Pico del Teide on Tenerife at 3200 m (Peak is 3400, but there was no way of making those last 200 meters).

11.000 feet ist nearly 3.350 meters - that's still a great achievement. I'm proud of you, and you are an inspiration to me - climbing a mountain, now there's a plan!

Thanks for sharing the beautiful pictures

You *only* made it to 11,000 feet? You say that like its a BAD THING?

Holy Cow, I got altitude sickness riding in the car up Pikes Peak once!

          Congrats on the outstanding achievement!!

That "only 11,000 feet" is nothing to sneeze at IAP.

Great accomplishment! Thanks for sharing your journey and the pic's.

                Nice job...when I'm on the 3rd floor I get a little woozy.

Looking strong, btw! Thanks for the pics since that's as close to the top of it as I'll ever get.

"Only 11,100 feet" *ker-smack!* I hope that smack makes you realize what an achievement that is. I wouldn't even bother to try. I mostly behaved while you were gone. Mostly. I'm glad you're back and can't wait to hear more about it! Let's celebrate!

                    Re: Well, almost made it...

                    I didn't say "only" I said "about 11,000" feet

I'm pretty happy about it. The main guide told me "that's 11,000 feet you don't need to worry about next time because now you know you can do that much."
It's also 11,000' higher than anything I've climbed before this year.

I'm going to have that post up shortly.
