  • I don't see how you mom's do it..

I get so nostalgic... I cry about them growing up... and I'm the AUNT!!!

yesterday after work... went to the lake cabin to cut grass... jeff called .. on his way in from being out of town all week.... we decided to spend the night at the cabin...

I was in my closet.. and there's a little pair of orange swim trunks that Salem wore when he was 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and probably 8.... seriously.. they swallowed him for a couple of years... then he wore them FOREVER... he loved them for some reason.... (he could probably still get them up on his skinny butt even though he's 11 now)

anyway.. I saw those little trunks and just started BAWLING.... that cabin is LONELY without them running around... and the thoughts of him growing up....

I think I'll have to put those little orange swim trunks in a shadow box for him...

I cried so much I ended up calling his Mom.. (my sis...) at 10:30... she laughed and laughed... and promised I could have them both (salem and ethan) next weekend from Friday til tuesday morning....

I guess the day to day stuff of raising kids keeps away some of the sentimental junk aunts go through... but I can't see how y'all do it!

LOL...the tears are becasue you love them. It isn't always easy. I went through empty nest syndrome last year. Both of my kids 19 & 21 are out of the house now. I still have two young step children that we have 1/2 week at a time, but it is not the same. I can't look at photo albums of my kids when they were little or old videos of them because I will bawl my eyes out and be sad all day. Oh now it is starting again...my eyes are getting all watery just typing about it.

Well, we don't do it because we want to. We do it because we have to. The little buggers don't exactly give us a much of a choice in the whole, 'I'm sorry, but you can't grow up because I'm not ready yet' dept. LOL I know! I've tried to have that conversation several times!

I saved a newbon diaper in each of my kids' baby books. Guaranteed instant tears anytime I see them.

And my youngest is headed off to kindergarden this year. *sniff* *sniff*

Oh geez. Now I'm all sniffly too. lol

      Lucky they're cute.

Before we moved to Norway we had a garage sale and I was putting my sons baby clothes and clothes that he out grew out to sell and everytime someone bought any, I got tears in my eyes. Just thinking about him running around in his overalls and favorite shark shorts over them (yes he would wear the shark shorts over his over clothes! LOL) makes me want to cry.....my baby is now 12!

One day I was saying to my youngest how fast he's growing and he said "Whenever you're not looking...I grow!" So now sometimes I'll say "Ah ha! I see you growing!" and we both laugh.
