  • Our Moochiecat

It's rough times at our house. We have no kids, Moochie was our babygirl..she's the only pet I've ever had, other than a dog when I was very little and can hardly remember.

I came home from work yesterday and one minute Moochie was fine, and then the next minute she couldn't move her back legs.
Long story short it was a blood clot that blocked the arteries to her legs. There is really no recovery for this sort of thing and our decision was pretty simple.
I held her head in my hand the whole time, bf and I petted her and spoke to her and she went quietly.
The veterinary staff were very caring and helped us through it, I admire them so much.
We were so lucky that she chose my doorstep to crash on those many years ago..we were so lucky to have such a goofy little thing as our buddy for the 13 years or so that she was with us.
Please go give your pets a hug and a kiss for us, and donate to the SPCA in your area.

Thanks everyone, we're just devastated here. I have no appetite so no worries about turning to food for comfort.

We're going to take her bag of food and bag of litter to the SPCA today, and we're taking some of her favourite toys to the vet so they can be cremated with her. We have a zillion pictures of her, and even more memories, so choosing the toys was a very sweet moving experience.
We're just in shock and can't believe this. The apartment is just so empty.

Sorry about your loss Moochie. My cat found me before I moved away to go to school. She came with me for every move and didn't seem to mind being uprooted and moving to a new place every 3 or 4 years. When she died, I told myself I wouldn't get another pet. About a year later, a young pregnant stray cat decided to give birth on my property. She was had a litter of 3. I didn't realize I had a cat family living on the property until one afternoon when I left my kitchen door ajar and she dragged her kittens into my house. She scrambled out the door when she saw me come back in. And I never saw her again. So I have 3 cats now.

I'm sooooo sorry to hear about your dear Moochie. I've lost cats before, and it's just devastating. I'm glad that you're having her cremated with her toys. When my Scooter died, I had him cremated with his toys and some bread slices, since they were his favorite treat.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss Moochie.

I hope this poem helps in some small way.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
