    Re: Out of Gas

I read on our local news website that 50% of our gasoline is converted from crude oil to gasoline in those refineries in the Gulf. I haven't seen gas shortages here but I'm going to keep my tank full just in case. I can walk to buy neccesities (sp?) but my husband works over 30 miles from where we live and we don't live near anyone that he works with. If worse comes to worse he can stay with family closer to where he works. I don't know if it will come to that but I like planning ahead when I can. I don't remember the last gas crisis back in the 70's. How did people manage then? Maybe we can learn something.

Well, I'm not contributing to the problem! My vehicle has been in the shop for 2 weeks getting a transmission overhaul.... so I haven't been driving!!

My dh works 15 minutes from home, hopefully we can still afford the gas to drive to there and the Y (1 mile)!

Sorry to hear you are having problems in your area. To be honest, either I got lucky this morning or there is some price gouging (albeit slight) in many areas. I paid $2.69 a gallon for regular unleaded and that is only a $0.10 increase from last week. But 10 miles down the road it was $2.84, for the same gas. I may be annoyed by high prices, but I won't be complaining about it.

              Re: Out of Gas

My mom just called me from Chico, California....there's gas stations closed there.

I'm more worried about those who live on fixed incomes that can't afford the gas they buy for their car anyways. My mom's one of those people and having to drive to doctor appts. is not a great thing right now.

I think if you can use other transportation right now, that's great.

We're going to fill up our tanks, park my car and use Dh's car for needed transportation.

Like you, Kimberly, my dh lives just about 5 of 8 mins from work...the extra time is getting across the 4 lane road of traffic. He's going to ride his bike and leave me his 28-30 MPG car to drive when I need to go to school.

For everyone......Stay safe and keep your wits about you where ever you are.

I just heard that at Costco (about 30 minutes from where I am) the price of regular is $3.89 a gallon! YIKES

Problem here is not even the price so much right now, I just heard from some folks who came back from lunch that they couldn't even find a station that was open! They are running out and shutting down left and right!

                    Re: Out of Gas

Charlotte starting running out of gas last night! Sounds like they are in worse shape than we are, we didn't start running out until today! Hopefully she won't be needing to travel anytime soon.

I'll be fine thanks. I only drive 14 miles a day and I have a full tank that should last me a week and 1/2 at least. I don't plan on driving anywhere except to the grocery store less than a mile from home the whole holiday weekend! And if absolutley nesicary I can walk that far.

                        Re: Out of Gas

Thanks MOG...I just sent her a message at our family's website to let her know if she hadn't heard already. From that website though it sounds like more gas is on the way...I imagine they'll be rationing it?

No gas here tonite. I drive 50 miles per day to work, and I have just over half a tank of gas left. I'm starting to feel sorry for myself.
