Like Bob and ttdriver (Betty), it was a blind date. On Sept. 20th, it will be 30 years that we met. On Sept. 23rd, we will be celebrating our 27th wedding anniversary.

His co-worker was dating a girlfriend of mine. The night I met my DH, our friends broke off their relationship. Thank God it wasn't before we met!

well i'm from england and my hubby is American. We met online in March 2003 and talked for 8 months online and on the phone. I really really liked him but as i lived in england and him in America never thought anything was going to happen. But then in Feb 2004 i plucked up the courage, flew to Minnesota, fell in love stayed with him but would have to leave after 3 months as i had no visa and it was just heartbreaking, This happened all through 2004 going back and forth, came back to the US in May, then again in November 2004 at which point he asked me to marry him. Had to leave again as i still didnt have a visa, we sent our visa petition off to immigration in january 2005 finally got my visa in march 2005 and emigrated to the states in june 2005 ....i hadent seen my fiance for 4 months!!! we got married july in las vegas and it was our happiest day ever....now we live in Minnesota and are about to file our next lot of paperwork! whew!!

showed up at my door at 3am one morning with a guy who was a friend.. he never left.. we lived together 7 years... then got married.. going on 22 years now

I had just graduated and a friend of mine switched schools (yr younger than me) and started dating a guy from there. He had a younger cousin and we would all four usually end up hanging out. But I always had a boyfriend. But when we'd break up i would go back and forth between DH and my boyfriend at the time. I couldnt get serious with him because i thought he was too young. I was 19 and he was 16. But a hottie!!!! My friend and I had an arguement and stopped talking for a long time. 2 years later she calls out of the blue to make up and tells me that he is living with them and to come over and we can all go to the movies or something. By this time, age didnt really matter to me, cause he was a hottie (did i already mention that?) Well, that was in July of 1996. and we married in October 1996. It will be nine years next month! We kept being drawn back together and I always had him in my mind , so I knew he was the one! Plus, he was so HOT!

I met my husband online also. I believe the chat room was freelove.com I don't think it's around anymore. I was trying so hard to find the courage to get out of a horrible first marriage that I had been in almost 13 years I guess I logged online looking for support and help. I met Gary along with some other great people who helped me to realize that I deserved better. Long story short here I am at 32 years old going thru divorce and wondered who would ever accept me and love me especially being overweight.
We were just friends for a long time but started talking on phone and finally he decides to make a trip from California to Oklahoma to meet me. The only thing I never told him was that I was overweight so I called him the night before he was to leave to come to Oklahoma and told him I was so sorry that he shouldn't waste his time as I was fat and apologized for never haven told him. He said he didn't care and came anyway and we have been together ever since. I fell in love with him before I ever even met him. Thru him I have learned what it really is to love someone and be loved in return. He relocated to Oklahoma and we were married just about a year after meeting in person! We now have 2 beautiful children and I DAILY amazed that I found this wonderful man on my computer

My husband and I met as high school students traveling in Italy in 1970. We attended different high schools but were on the same excursion and lived in neighboring cities. When we returned from Italy, we went our separate ways with college, careers, travel, marriage, divorce .... Fast forward to 1998 (yes ... 28 years later!) and a chance meeting. We were married in 1999 and will celebrate our sixth anniversary in October.

I was the "bad kid" in 7th grade, my wife was the "smart geek". I failed to do my math homework and turned around to ask her to let me copy hers and she smiled and said "NO"!! It was love. 19 years together, 9 years married, and one perfect daughter later we're still together.

I met my boyfriend at work we were both working the same shift in a group home, but we were friends for over a year before we actually began dating and that was 3yrs ago this past saturday.

What a great thread!!

I met my hubby in driving school. Out of the 50 people in my class, I got paired up with him and we had been sneaking glances since the first day. Anyhow, my mother dropped me off in from of the school to go driving and he was already there waiting for the instructor. We offered to let him in the car b/c it was cold, and he smiled said no thank you and my mother turned to me and told me I was going to marry him. Of course I laughed at her, but here I am, 4 and a half years later, still with him. We got married on Valentine's Day this year and have a beautiful 8 month old son.

It was funny b/c our driving instructor was trying so hard to hook us up that I got so fed up and just asked him out to the movies. I thought it would be horrible and then it would be settled and my Mom and teacher would leave me alone. Boy was I wrong! Funny how things work out, huh??

Oh, and I completely agree, my hubby played the drums in a band and my lord...SOOO SEXY!!

My best friend and I had gone out for a drink after work, and ran into a couple of male friends. This drunk guy came over and started trying to pick us up, right ... one of the male friends told the guy to take a hike and one thing lead to another, they got loud and the waitress decided we all should go. (*sigh*)

So, our friend felt bad that he got us kicked out, so he invited us to another friends house to visit and play cards. So, we went and got into a rousing game of Concentration (card game). Another couple of guys were playing darts. We hung around for a couple of hours, playing cards and finally DH, who had been playing darts, came over and sat down to chat...we hit it off right away. We've been together every since...and got married about 1 1/2 years later.

July 18, 1980: Took two other girls to the local beach (I was the one with the car). We were walking along and these two guys were going up and down the beach throwing people in the water. Well, when they got to me my (hubby to be) picked me up and carried me in, rather than just pushing/throwing me in. He then invited me back to the campfire to warm up. He and a group were camping there for the weekend after completing a course through the military (a celebration of sorts).
He left just after that to go visit his family, and I figured I'd not see him again. I was wrong. He came back and called on my birthday (August 10). We were engaged August 22, and he left Labour Day weekend with the Navy. Returned October 12th, and gave me the ring. We were married November 22.

Twenty-five years later, two children - two dogs - two cats - and a drive across the entire continent when the Navy posted us here --- and we're still together. He's such a romantic. I think I need him to balance out my practical nature.

I also met DH online. I actually put an add on a web site because I was stuck at home (newly divorced) with a 4 month old baby girl and two teenagers aged 15 and 17 (I raised my nieces becuase my sister died) and I could not go anywhere because the girls fought and were not mature enough to watch a baby. Anyway, DH came on really strong and wanted me to call him instantly and he scared me, so I avoided him for about 6 months. Everytime he would sign online, I would sign off. I did not like him at all. Then, he got clever and changed his screenname and started over. This time he was just perfect. I had no idea it was the same guy until our first date. I am glad he tried so hard because he is truly my soul mate and we have been together for almost 6 years, married for 3.

I met my husband in highschool. He was 2 years older but we had the same art period together. My friend and I walked in on the first day and sat at the same table across from him. He was dark, quiet & mysterious. I tried to talk to him but he was all embarrassed. I told my friend, "That's the guy I'm going to marry!" She knew he already had a girlfriend but that didn't stop me. It turned out that he knew one of my other friends so we all hung out for awhile. One day he said he'd broken up with his girlfriend. It was the same day we had to draw people in art class. Him & I ended up standing together in a pose. I was on a chair, he was standing just behind me with his hand on my shoulder. I reached up and held hands with him and he later told me that was the minute he knew we were going to be together. I told him that I always knew we would be. We've been together for 10 years, married for 2 and have a perfect little toddler. Sure, we had our ups and downs and broke up for a few months but we were both miserable and here we are.

I couldn't imagine life without him. And believe me, it's so true that opposites attract. We couldn't be more different but it's perfect.
