  • Update on the boy we sent to Houston

KATRINA VICTIMS' REUNION---WHILE THOUSANDS OF EVACUEES SEARCH FOR LOVED ONES WHO WERE SEPARATED DURING THE HURRICANE, THERE IS ONE MORE FAMILY THAT'S HAPPY TO BE REUNITED TONIGHT. AS THE WB'S KATIE MCCALL EXPLAINS, IT WAS A LONG 11 DAY WAIT FOR A NEW ORLEANS MOTHER WHO FINALLY FOUND HER SON. ------ LIKE SO MANY EVACUEES IN HOUSTON, NICOLE MONTGOMERY HAS SPENT ALMOST EVERY MOMENT LOOKING FOR HER SON. (("The last time I saw my son was the day before the storm."))

That's a lovely story and welcomed good news for a change.

I saw reports where there are something like 600 children seperated from their parents because of Katrina. I got a phone call 2 nights ago saying that a plane was coming in and wanting to know if I could take any of the children in and how many could I take.

I just wonder how so many children got seperated from their parents. No doubt some of them will be orphaned. I also heard that some of the children will have to indentify their parents bodies. It's really heartwrenching. No child should ever have to do that.

I'm so glad that your story had a happy ending. Good luck to them with rebuilding their lives.

Does anyone have any idea how to adopt/foster any of the kids who are orphaned because of Katrina?

Thank you for the update, mamaK! It is so good--as Piasa says--to hear some good news.

That's great Kimberly, maybe you and the other volunteers should keep the phone numbers of the Center for Missing and Exploited Children, since they seem to be the ones in charge of these missing children and adults.
