  • Crossing the bridge...

I have been reading the posts on here and it amazes me how powerful this board is. You have so many people that didn't even know one another, come together and become family. A family that continues to grow everyday. It makes you wonder why others who need to and and would like to change their wol, don't change it even after seeing all the success others are having. It makes you want to drag them up on their feet and give them a good smack to wake them up, but you can't. It is something that only they can do. They have to want it to change and make it change.
It is like crossing a bridge. You can only hope and pray others will cross the same bridge you have and join you on the other side. Their side of the bridge is dark, dysmal and full of pain, sickness and unhappiness and your side is bright, warm, healthy and full of self accomplishment and happiness. They can see your side of the bridge and want to be there so baddly, but they also see how long the bridge is (even though those who have succeeded look back and realize how short it really was) and that crossing the bridge is hard and takes effort. Some may just be simply too afraid or too lazy to cross. Others may start to cross and turn around and go back. You want so much to lasso them and pull them across, but you can't. It is a journey only they can make. You can be there on the other side for those who are journeying across rooting and cheering them on, but you can't pull them. It is often a painful journey as we are changing old habits and learning new healthy ones. Looking at ourselves for how we really are and admitting our faults and short comings. Realizing how we have failed our bodies and drudging up the strength to change it. The tears that are shed for the pain we feel as we take a true look at ourselves at the real person that is inside of us. Working on freeing that person and shedding our old selves takes great courage. The encouragement we receive from those on the other side helps us to overcome our fears of falling When we do trip and stumble we are not chastised, but lifted up by the love of the others on the other side. Before long we are there joining the others that have crossed before us into the light, helping others that are still behind us. Making sure others make it too.
For those of us still on the bridge we (I) thank all of you() on the other side for the support and love you are giving us (me). It makes the journey so much easier. It is hard at times and some days it seems so easy and simple. There is discouragement and frustration, but because you are there, we are not alone. We have hope on the other side waiting for us.
