Grand Jury Duty....ugh!!!

SO, I have Grand Jury duty this week. First time I have ever been picked in three times summoned.

Yesterday we had to do county inspections. My group went to the city jail. All I can say is.....ugh!!!!!!

Motivation more than ever NOT to ever get locked up!!!!!! This was my first time ever in a jail. I never want to go back again. I realize it was jail, so I did not want to see color tv, fluffy pillows, but...... we really need to renovate in our town!!!!!!!

Today we start hearing cases. Shoud be interesting.

I've had to show up for jury duty, but I've never been picked to sit on a jury. (Hmmmm...maybe I got to stop scowling at the defendants and looking appalled when they are reading out the case...) Anyhow, just make sure you bring along some low carb snacks. I remember the jury pool waiting room in my county only had a snacks machine (with the usual corn chips, potato chips, crackers, cookies, etc.) and a soda machine. They also had a coffee machine and a water cooler. So bring along something just in case.

I've been lucky so far, I've never been called for Jury Duty! (knock on wood)

I know someone that was called to Jury duty that really didn't want to sit on a jury, but of course had no choice but to go. When the crown attorney was questioning her to see if she was suitable she kept saying 'I'm sorry...could you repeat that' or 'Pardon me?' after a few of the questions. They did ask her if she had a hearing problem and she said 'no' (she doesn't) but she didn't get picked. thought that was pretty crafty

Wow! Grand Jury duty, no less!

LOL sadie on tactics for not being chosen. I have a few my husband taught me, but I won't divulge them, simply because they aren't in good taste.

I've gotten the letter but haven't had to go in. I think it would be interesting. My husband got called in on one that took a week. I suppose if I didn't want to be picked I could just shout out "You're gonna BURN!!! Burn I say!!!!" Although I imagine that snippy "contempt of court" would bite me in the butt.

I don't mind serving, actually I am learning a bit, especially about how shoddy some police work really is. We have 90 cases to review this week. So far today we have done about 5. I am at home onlunch break now.
