Anyone else have any experience with this? I have three orders that were placed and hope to get a couple more in the next couple days before I have to submit my order.



Just curious if anyone else has been or is an Avon Rep?

Never have been, but I have wonderfully fond memories of living out in the toolies as a kid and the Avon lady coming to call. We always got my dad the aftershave in the differently shaped bottles...I remember one was a loon in flight...one was a canadian goose.
She'd also give me one or two of her tiny little tester lipsticks that she didn't need anymore..oh gosh I loved those!

Are you selling Foxfire again?

It is a vintage fragrance, but it was brought back for a short time a couple years back. I bought 8 bottles. The stuff is REALL hard to find!

Congratulations! I used to sell Artistry makeup a loong time ago, but I hate sales (it gives me hives). *lol*

I sold Avon a long time ago. I had problems with people ordering things and then not wanting them when the order came in. I finally quit with about 30 bottles of bubble bath that folks had ordered for Christmas presents then changed their mind when it came time to pay for them.

I had the same problem as MoG ..... only I didn't get in that deep. I am not suited for sales and ended up mostly buying stuff for friends and myself using my discount as a rep.

I also used to be a rep.
Sometimes I was embarassed to deliver things to people, because I felt disappointed with the final product, as compared to what I had imagined it to be from the photo in the brochure.

Usually they weren't as critical as I, thankfully. It was a great way to meet the neighbours.

I did it about 10 years ago and LOVED it!!

I had great success at it. I did it for a couple of years, but someone in my office "snitched" on me. They really lied and said I was selling during office hours.

I would make up my own special promotions. I would have them have to find something in the brochure and get 5% off or buy so much and get a certain percentage off. I did this at first because I wasn't selling for profit. Just to get my AVON stuff at a discount. As my customer list grew, it really became a business and I really could to do the fun discounts that my regular customers loved and drew attention from new folks.

It's a great business. I had very little trouble with people ordering stuff they didn't want. As a bonus, AVON doesn't make you pay for stuff up front and when I did it, they took credit cards, which was a bonus.

The key is to pass out your books in high traffic LEGAL places. Or just use fliers. I would find some kind of gimmick to get them to choose you over another Rep or even an AVON Store. Customer Service is KEY as I'm sure you know.

In this day in age, I wouldn't do door-to-door, but meet at a local mall or McDonald's or something.

AVON is great. They always have something for everyone, from 69 cents to $69!!

One other thing that is different about Avon now is that you don't have to buy from a rep anymore..they have an 800 # where you can order for yourself or you can go to their website and order online.

I have never sold Avon but I used to keep the Avon lady at work in San Diego in business.
