Re: Evacuations under way as Rita muscles up

They were not allowing pets in the shelters or in the vechiles in NO, that is why alot of folks refused to evacuate. That is also why they collected 700 abandoned pets in one day after the storm, they were locked up in houses days and days after the storm with no food and no water..poor babies. Yea, my pet would be with me, one way or another--she is my child!

I've got a horse that 31 years old... I've had him since he was 18 months... you think I'd leave HIM? lol... me and that trailer wouldn't stop til we got to NYork if necessary.. but he'd go... of course I live in GEorgia.. in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mtns... so flooding ain't something i have to worry about... i'm just saying IF i lived there... i couldn't do that... no way..

I couldn't leave Pedro (my Boston Terrier). We've only had him a few months, but he's family.

OH Peytonn, they weren't stopping people from taking their pets if they had their own transportation out. But the folks with no transportation who had to rely on help weren't allowed to take theirs and the folks who went to shelters weren't allowed in w/ their pets. There was one woman who stood outside the superdome for hours and hours before the storm with her 8 parrots and they wouldn't let her in. Thankfully she was finally able to get up w/ someone by pay phone who came and took the birds to keep for her, I wonder if they were safe in the end. I of course could never leave Gizmo either, I've had her since she was 6 weeks old and she'll be 11 on Oct. 3rd. I couldn't part with her any more than folks could leave their children behind.

ok.. then that makes sense.... if you're going to a shelter....

I'd be one of those people who packed up my stuff and got out of dodge about 3 days early or something....

and that little gizmo... you know Jeff gave me a candle of Gizmo about 20 years ago that I still have? cute doggie.. and the Gizmo resemblance is THERE!
