For those that don't know or don't remember - lol My husband & I were assaulted at the end of July. Long, ugly story.
Update:
I came home this morning to an odd message on my answering machine saying something about "$25,000 Do not have direct contact with <husband's name>...this prohibits contact by any means including contact by phone, mail, electronic communications, or through another person. If you have questions regarding this notification, please call ***-***-****."
Wha??
So I call and I wound up getting in contact with a Hennepin County Victim's Advocate. Turns out the man they arrested for assaulting us is in all sorts of trouble - and not just because of our case.
He was supposed to be in court for something else, failed to show and had a warrant out. He was picked up on that warrant and has spent some time in jail as a result. He was in court yesterday and the judge hit him with $250,000 bail (had to post $25,000). Today he was in court pleading on our case. He's being charged with 2nd degree assault and assault with a deadly weapon. The advocate said that the judge will probably release him being he's already posted the $25,000 bail, but that the message on my answering machine was a copy of the directive given to this man - a restraining order. (Funny, cuz it sounds like a message telling ME I can't have contact with my husband. ROFL)
The advocate said that he'd know what this guy plead to and all that stuff by about 3:30 this afternoon. If he pleads guilty...then that'll be that and he's going upstate. If he pleads innocent, they'll likely plea bargain it down to 2nd degree assault and drop the assault with a deadly weapon charge, and if he refuses that, to trial we go. He told us that he's going to send us paperwork to fill out for hospital bills, missed work, etc etc - and there's an agency that will likely pay us that money and then turn around and go after this guy for it (the judge can order him to pay it out of posted bail money, from what I gathered).
