  • Give me British Field Rations anytime

The Brits supplied Army Field Rations to the USA as part of the immediate relief to New Orleans. It was stockpiled for fear it contained mad cow disease.

Give me British Field Rations any day to American MREs - US Servicemen will trade anything for British "Compo" if it means they can escape MREs for a day or two. I have eaten them - they are unbelievably awful!

I don't think it had anything to do with the "taste" of the food Labarum. See if we have a ban on British beef because of mad cow disease, and then we accept those rations and feed them to the "poor and needy" - those "poor and needy" will come back and try to sue the US government--you gotta think how American's do.

I've never tasted anything but the Canadian IMP's (meal rations), which primarily come from the US, anyway - and they are deplorable.

That's why, for the past weekend exercise, I stocked up my knapsack with portable foodstuffs. I only indulged in one of the "meals", at least a portion of it - a salmon fillet. Other than that - it's straight carbs, anyway.
