Some of you might remember that two months ago we had to put down our sweet little Moochiecat. I can't say we're over it yet, we loved her so much and I had 13 wonderful years with her.
Out of bad things come very good things though. When we donated her things to the SPCA we got interested in the place and I'm signed up to take volunteer training in November. Bf and I have been going there at least once a week to visit the kitties and we met Ella.

Ella was miserable in a cage, and hated the other cats so she had a whole big unused office space to herself. One of the fellows at the SPCA had an office off of this area so she would spend most of her day in there with him, so that's good. Today would have been five months that she has been at the shelter.
The shelter people were all so excited for her and us...it was wonderful and I was half in tears the whole time we were there. I look forward to being able to spend more time there in the future.
There are so many lovely sweet cats available at shelters and I urge everyone to think about getting an older animal as opposed to a kitten. They have so much love to give.
We decided on Ella, and then I kept thinking about the other cats there, and how deserving they are to have a home, and I realized that no matter which cat we chose, there will always be other cats that I really want to take home as well. Hopefully volunteering will make me feel like I'm helping them.
Anyway (long email!!) she's settled in very nicely...she had a bite of food last night and some water, and this morning she had a poopy in her litter box, so that's a sign that she's got things figured out.
She slept on the foot of the bed and didn't disturb us at all...she seems like she's just made herself right at home.
We feel like this is a home again. It's sad, because we miss Moochie so much, but it's a good feeling to give someone new a home.
