  • The Rant Thread

This is a rant thread. Anyone is welcome to post their rants.

    Here are mine:

    1. Yesterday, it was raining and I stopped by the post office on the way home. I wanted to drop my letters off in the drive-up box. So, I get there and there's a car in front of the box. I wait. The car doesn't move. I wait some more. The car still doesn't move. I get a glimpse of the driver and she's on her cell phone. So, I honk my horn. She looks into her rearview, then she sticks her hand out the window and gives me the finger. THEN, she STARTS her car and moves it into a parking space. WHAT THE ?????? She parks in the drive up mailbox lane???? Mind you, it was 4: 35 PM. That post office collects the drive up mail at 4:45 PM! Parks at the drive up box....sheesh!

    2. This morning. So I'm driving to work on a two lane road. Two ambulances with lights and sirens on are coming down the road from the opposite direction. I slow down to pull over (like the law says you're supposed to do). What does the jerk behind me do??? He leans on his horn , getting all pissy that I'm slowing down to 40 mph on a 35 mph road.

Hmpf! The nerve of SOME people! Are people getting ruder than ever or am I just noticing it more?

I like rant threads, but I can't think of anything to rant about today. Darn it! Maybe later.

    Okay, who's next?

Old people who complain about the "younger generation having no manners". I think some of the most blatanly rude people in the world are the old people.

Last night, my son and I are at the store, getting some oatmeat. He falls and hurts himself and starts to cry. He is just turned five. Old man walks by and mutters about brats throwing fits in the store, and not being allowed to bring kids in public who cant behave.

This morning, I had to exchange some pants for the kids at Target. My back is spasming (again), so I am not moving very fast. I am trying to cross the parking lot to get to my car, and this old lady driving WAY TOO FAST has to hit her brakes and leans on her horn, causing me to jump, and yes, wrench my back. She is screaming at me, because someone coming the other way is getting her spot and what the **** am I doing, dawdling in the road and on and on. She had to park two spaces farther down the aisle.

Last week I am turning ON A LEFT TURN ARROW into the tract, when an old man in a huge truck turns right onto the same street in front of me - with a red light going his way. He procedes to follow me to my house, honking and flipping me off.

Teenagers can be rude, but are rarely agressively so. I go out of my to be polite and deferential to everyone, be it an officer of the bagger at the grocery, and insist my kids do the same, making them stop and apologize if the step in front of someone, etc.

If I had been able to get over to that old lady today, I would have been rude enough to be very sorry for later.

My rant is moms in minivans who speed through school zones while one hand is on their cell phone.

Self-service lanes at the store that always require a manager's assistance. It didn't save me any time.

            Re: The Rant Thread

I was up until almost 4am...with my entire family....because the water pipe in the laundry room in the apartment directly across the hall from me burst. - Of course I didn't learn this until after I go into my master bathroom at 1:30am and step in an inch of water. I thought maybe one of the kids got up and flooded it or something, but then the laundry room was so full of water it was pouring out into the hallway.......and then I opened my front door and oyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. So by 3am this morning I had 3 maintenance men in my house with commercial water sucker-uppers and countless ones in the hallway and the apartment across the hall, as did 2 of my other neighbors. A total of 4 apartments flooded last night.

No damage to anything in my house, thank God. We're just wet. Really wet.

2 fires and now a flood since April. Can I pick 'em or can I pick 'em?!

People who complain about how Atkins doesn't work for them, despite doing what they claim is a perfectly "clean" induction, and then write about how they eat low carb bread with lunch every day.

I had a rant on a cycling forum today.
                    Here tis:

A good rant makes you feel better
Atkins didn't say 'Calories don't count',
                    he said, 'Don't count calories.'

                      Re: The Rant Thread

I'm with you all on the rude drivers and the old people. I think everyone's getting more rude b/c the world is getting too small. Last week we were sitting at a red light with 2 cars ahead of us. The light turned green but no one moved. Obviously the first car was turning left and waiting for a break in traffic. The guy behind us was leaning on his horn and beeping, beeping, and then pulled into the next lane just as we started moving and then cut us off as we were going through the intersection (illegal to pass in an intersection in Canada - don't know where he thought he was). Of course the next light turned red and we all sat there for a while but now he was one car ahead of us instead of being behind us. Big whoop! Obviously his watch has a nano-second hand.

Today I'm a bit irked with dh (whom I love and adore, but sometimes...). He gets way more vacation time than me. Which is fine, but if he ever takes a day off he won't do anything. Nothing. He won't wash the dishes from breakfast, or run over to the grocery store or anything. Sometimes he'll make dinner b/c he likes cooking. I'm thinking "you get a vacation day from work - not from your life". If I had weeks of extra vacation time (yes, we are talking weeks, not 1 or 2 days) I would be fixing up the house and doing all kinds of other stuff I can't do at work and I can't do when we're on family vacations. So I'm a bit ticked off right now that I have to go grocery shopping tonight (with him - he likes grocery shopping - I hate it) as well as make lunches and dinner and put away the laundry, when he could have done it in an hour this afternoon. I even clean the house when I'm sick b/c I feel guilty for lying around doing nothing!! Well, that's my rant.

And I'm with ya on the gravity thing too, Cleo. Brings me down every time.

I have nothing to rant about so far but I'm female - I'll find something for today. But about rude old people.....I'm a young person who - about a year ago - came waking out of a store to my car and half way there see a HUGE brand new Dodge truck pulling into the spot directly in front of mine and decided to use my humble but well taken care of 97 Nissan Sentra as it's bumper stop. The driver hit it at around 5-7 mph. As I approached, the occupants got out - a couple nearing their 70's (HE was driving). The woman got out and asked me what my problem was. I'm like, "Gee, um, you just hit my car and I'm going to check whether I have any damage to stick you with." They both just glared at me and Thank Goodness there was no damage on my car - the license plates hit together. I'm more convinced EVERY day that the older people get - the ruder they are.
