    Re: The Rant Thread

    My rant for today

People that live just to pop in out of nowhere and stir up sh*t! Especially when it involves rehashing the same old crap that has already been solved once, and in their favor mainly just to shut them up!

You know, the kind of people that rant and rave and stomp their little feet until they get their way--the more whining, the better they like it?

Then once they get their way, its never good enough! And the more people that they upset in the course of this makes it even more pleasurable for them.

    Thank god its Friday!

      Re: The Rant Thread

Here's a rant that bothers me every day I see these two people at work. I don't even know what the trigger is - maybe you can give some insight?

Why do they have to display a 'mule eating briers' grin whenever they say something? The words aren't even sarcastic or facetious! Just a simple sentence of something like, "I saw Joe Blow today and he told me...", and here comes that stupid, stupid grin. It happens with almost every time you speak to them, especially in long conversations, and both are in my department!

I can't describe it, but it's not a pretty or friendly smile, but almost fiendish.

Anyone know what I'm talking about or what it's for?

        Re: The Rant Thread

Surprizingly, I have no rant today! Because I have the day off and haven't stepped out of the house. Okay I did drag the trash cans out and dragged them back in after the trash was collected, but other than that, I've been hanging around the house. So I haven't risked my life and sanity on the roads.

Jackie, it could be that smile is a way for them to get over social ineptitude. I know a couple of people who behave like that too and they are really shy, loner type people. I guess the smiling thing is something they do to hide their nerves....

Today has been an unbelieveably hellish day in our office. One of my co-workers, as he was leaving the office at 5:00 p.m., patted me on the shoulder and told me "you really need to relax". I wanted to punch him square in the nose. He gets to go home at 5, but the rest of us, are stuck here til god knows when.

A day off!! Wouldn't that be great.
Well, this weekend, I didn't have to report to the Reserves, so I guess that's a day (or two) off - but mid-week would be wonderful.

I had to submit a leave pass for Christmas Break so I could learn to drive big green trucks - so it's not a "real" vacation, but I had to burn off my leave days AND leave without pay (lwop) from my regular job, just to do training with the Reserves.

This goes also for January/February (a month long) for SQ (soldier qualification). I had to take 1/2 vacation and 1/2 lwop.

So, vacation time is shot, with no real vacation time to show for it.

                            Re: The Rant Thread

At my son's preschool they want everyone to drive through and drop the kids off at a covered entranceway. No problem, except the drive isn't long enough to hold more than 5 or 6 cars at a time in line so cars were backed up out in the road waiting to get in. So they institute a new policy, once the drive is full, cars should line up in the adjacent parking lot and then proceed into the line when there is room. They even set cones up along the road to keep cars from lining up there. They have sent at least two letters home explaining this. My rant is the people that drive right on by the cars waiting in line and cut in front of them to get into the drive! This has happened to me 3 times out of the last 4 times I've driven my son to school. Different cars each time too, so it's not just one person doing it! Is their time so much more important than mine that they don't think they have to wait? Grrrr.

                                Re: The Rant Thread

This happened yesterday during evening rush hour.

Traffic light 4 lane intersection. Left turn only lane. Light turns green. Lead car doesn't move. People start honking. Lead car doesn't move. People honk more. Lead car doesn't move. Light turns off. Lead car takes the turn.

Does that kind of person live just to frustrate people???? That intersection is a 7 minute traffic light. That is if you stop once the light turns red, you'll be sitting there for 7 minutes for the light to turn green.

When I finally made my left turn and got to the grocery store.....

8 year old boy with mother. Boy thinks he's in a boxing ring because when he's standing he's throwing punches into the air. When he's walking he's throwing punches in the air. I avoid the Mike Tyson wannabe but they seem to be going to every section of the store I'm in. I've just finished putting a box of kitty litter into my cart. My purse slips down my shoulder and onto my elbow. Suddenly it flies up and almosts hits my head. I turn around---it's the Mike Tyson wannabe. I look at the kid and the kid's mother (who doesn't seem to care) and say "Madam, please control your child." She tells me "He's just a little boy." I repeat in my most Exorcist voice "Madam, your child punched my purse. Please control your child." She gives me a dirty look and walks away. The Tyson wannabe still punching away as he follows her. Some parents....
