  • The Non-Rant Thread!

I don't think this'll take off like the Rant thread did..lol...but surely we've all have a few good things to mention!!

    I do! I do!

We have an apartment that we absolutely love...we are allowed a cat, we're on the water and we're close to everything, for a really reasonable rent..love it love it!
But for almost 3 years we've had this unsightly crack and peeling paint situation on the ceiling in the main bathroom of our apartment. (it's a long story involving management changing four times in the last few years) Other things have gone downhill in there as well...such as the silicone seal breaking on the edge of the tub and the toilet paper roll breaking off (I should have got a picture of it!! Bf stuck it back on with duct tape and a rubber band.... )
A few days ago the lever connected to the toilet handle broke so I had to call him about that and I also mentioned these other things. This guy is a great guy, I don't know why I waited so long to mention the other things, but as of right now, the silicone has been re-done, the toilet paper roll is replaced, the lever is fixed, the crack is smoothed, plastered and sanded AND the bathroom is ready for him to re-paint today!!

I had painted it a soft creamsicle colour right before the water damage happened and I'm happy to see it go back to basic apartment beige, as I had painters remorse right after the bathroom was done...eesh...

Anyway, I'm happy....I have plans to stencil or stamp some sort of border and buy new bright towels and to be able to lay in the tub and not see that icky peeling paint...and be able to have people over and not apologize for our tacky bathroom!!!

I am so thankful that we live today in such a wonderful world! A world with Diet Coke, and good friends, and a new line of soft furnishings at JCPenney.

          Re: The Non-Rant Thread!

Things for which I can be thankful:

          - I have a hubby who supports me, loves me, and is a great cook
          - Later this month we will celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary
          - My daughter is moving out tomorrow to a new job and a new Province
          - I have a job that may not be the ideal, but is certainly far superior than having no job. The people here are nice, and they give me time off to do my training without raising too much stink (even if I have to burn off my leave, plus leave without pay).
I may regret having to use my leave for military training, because it won't feel like a real vacation, but I feel that it is important.
          - I am honoured to be able to wear a military uniform, and most especially as Remembrance Day approaches. It gives me a sense of pride to be able to represent my country in service (or at least once I am trained a little more extensively).
          - My son, although a teenager, still doesn't mind being in public with his parents
          - The dogs are intent on keeping me fit, and rarely allow me to walk them anymore - they would rather run everywhere
          - I have maintained my weight loss for more than a year, which is a great thing

I'm sure there are many more, but I will stop there

Yesterday when I came home from work, my husband had candles lit, and dinner on the table, just because! He's so sweet.

Or was it that you didn't but told me not to tell anyone? If that's the case then...ooops.

                      Re: The Non-Rant Thread!

My non-rant would be my family. I am re-relocating (we have only been here six months) back to where we were so I can take my old job back. I have not been working this last month - the industry I was temping in stopped about dead * not a good time to be thinking about selling a house in Las Vegas * , and the kids' daycare situation became not good.. so mostly I have been cooking and keeping house in return for a place to stay. I have been waiting on a check to come from a retirement account I cashed out, and thought it would have been here mid October.. .it was delayed with the main office being heavily hurricane hit, and I should see it sometime before January.

So that leaves me unable to finance this move. Not only have they all listened to me waffle an whine about not wanting to move back to AZ, where the ex is, but each have offered to let me stay with them, including my brother and his fiance who are getting married this weekend, until we could save enough to move to AK (which is where I would love to go), and never once said, ENOUGH>>> JUST DECIDE, or QUIT WHINING< COWBOY UP< MAKE A CHOICE. They also have pooled their resources to finance a place to live, gas and groceries, and living expenses until my first check at the end of the month, and they will wait till my retirement comes to get paid back.

Family is funny, and not always the most positive thing, but in the end, they love me and my kids very much, and are amazing.

                        Hello All,

I am thankful that I woke up this morning and knew and my friends were here to help me make it through the day.

Yayy!! Our bathroom is painted, everything is fixed...it's like a brand new room!
It's boring as heck being beige, mind you, but it's so fresh and clean in there it almost makes me plotz! (and I don't even know what plotzing is!)

20 years ago I had no idea I'd get this excited about new silicone sealing around my tub and a new toilet paper roll dispenser...gee whiz...
