Re: Username now shows up in rep

called ridiculous to have to rate somebody's post performance. And I can see some feelings are going to get hurt now that they know who replied to their topic but didn't rep them

sending nice private stuff is what PMs are for and bigger PM boxes can be had for being a supporting member hint hint

Well, it was my suggestion, and I still think it's a good one.

Feeling obligated to rep because someone repped you is just plain silly. That's not what the reps are there for!

If someone gave a rep to say something negative, well then that's on them and as Bren said - a good lesson learned.

Its strange, but I was giving them out regularly and now I am holding back because I don't want folks to think they need to reciprocate.
Now, reading that folks use them on another board as PMs sounds intersting. Kinna blows the point of the whole thing.

Well how about we all quit worrying so much about how everyone else is using them and use them the way that we each see fit?! So much to-do about nothing, really!

Just because your friends jump off a bridge, does it mean you....... LOL

if it is so much to do about nothing why did it need to be changed?

Re: Username now shows up in rep

What's the big deal, 2big? I mean, honestly? If people knowing that you appreciate a post of theirs upsets you, then don't rep them.

I prefer to know who's leaving comments on my rep thingy - and the truth is that I've had two people rep me with not-so-nice things to say just because it's an easy, chickensh*t way to do so anonymously. How's that for a reason to show who's saying what?!

Re: Username now shows up in rep

no Brook, I was thinking more along the lines of somebody posting thanks ________ for the rep on the board as has already be done several times and somebody else who thinks they made an awesome post sees it and knows _______ read theirs cause __________ left a post in it but didn't rep them for it. hurt feelings are going to needlessly be caused.

Sorry your feeling were hurt by some one being childish and abusing the system.

The more I think about it, the more I don't feel that I can use them either. I am afraid that someone will think that they need to reciprocate and that wasn't the point. I liked being anonomous, like having a secret friend.

                    Hi,

I am still pretty new around here and I noticed there were no names on the reps the first time I got one. I then started signing any I sent because I think people want to know who is there saying something to them, whether good or bad. It was surprising when I saw who had left me a rep and I thought it was nice too.

I wish they'd take the rep power and put it where the sun don't shine ...... err ...... I mean, do away with it.

I don't care one way or the other. I think for the folks that like it its fine for the rest, just don't use it if you don't like it. I don't think it really means anything, its not like you win prizes for rep points or anything.
